Hi SixStringSurfer, I thoroughly enjoyed that! As one amateur to another, I would stand proud of that performance of "Pipeline". The new Jag looks and sounds great, too.

It's one thing to play lead guitar with a backing band, but solo/duet is like a high-wire act with no safety net. Dude, you nailed it AND you have video proof. Well done, sir!

Guys, I am truly humbled by all of your comments. Seriously, it means a lot to me hearing positive feedback from other surf enthusiast here on SG101. I'm certainly open to constructive criticism as well. Thanks again for making my day!

Congrats on your new guitar.
I really enjoyed the video and your sounds.
Sounds like it's inspiring and that's a good thing as hopefully we'll be seeing and hearing more from you.
Cheers,
Jeff

I'm really inspired by this thread and particularly the video.
I picked up a squier jag a few years ago and strung it with 12s. It's probably my least played guitar but I see it as a tool for a specific job.
There's a lot to love about the tone in your video.

You played really well! Honestly, I know it isn't an easy song to play perfectly. The timing of that glissando is hard to hit as you have to immediately head back into the song after it and before it.
I'm glad I read you were playing through the PA because I was about to ask for picture of your bridge as something sounded really off. I thought I was hearing some serious fretting out or string making contact with something it shouldn't. Having playing not through an amp before, directly into PA I now realize it was that making the attack of the guitar sound off from the actual tone. Also, that guy's guitar wasn't 100% in tune.

You did just fine , man ...its tough playing without drums of any sort . And the minimalism of a duo or solo performance leaves no room for error ..you did fine , keep on playing.

I have the red Classic Player Jag, too. I currently use TI flatwound 13s and I have a Tusq nut and string tree installed, along with my install of the Pure Vintage 65s. I have rewired P-basses, a tele, 3 strats, my CP Jazzmaster and this one. When I replace any wired components, I use my tablet to take close up photos of the before, during, and after for reference if any troubleshooting becomes necessary. Although time, care, and attention are required, soldering successfully is a great skill to have and demystifies a lot. But there is no shame in getting a friend to do it or paying someone for their services....but do yourself a favour and observe and take notes.
