It's interesting the lengths to which some players go to avoid acoustic coupling of the tank, when typically it sits right in front of a cab on the stage floor, just couplin' away all night. But then I guess DD & DW are not your typical surf players jamming at typical levels. With two Dual Showman amps turned up past 7 I'm surprised DD doesn't have his tank suspended in a vacuum.

Squink Out!

Ivan,

Thanks for the photos. I just loved Dick’s tone at the show- amazing and beyond what I had hoped to hear. Better than his records.

It didn’t even occur to me to try and replicate it, given my lack of skill and his amazing talent. But what the heck? I’ll turn my reverb tank knobs to those numbers and see what happens.

Wow, that amp Kevin worked on sure is a piece of history. Shock

So glad you took those photos, thanks for sharing! Thumbs Up

MooreLoud.com - A tribute to Dick Dale. New EP Louder Than Life available on bandcamp and website. Taking guitar lessons from Jimmy Dale.

Played with DD last night at Daryl's House. Great show! Dick was in fine form and played really well. His playing was spot on and the sound was phenomenal! I felt we played a really good set ourselves, although I must say it's very disconcerting to have people eating dinner at tables right in front of the stage, as we blast them with mega decibles. The club is really good and the atmosphere is welcoming and the staff is nice. It's constructed with music as the number one consideration, and the sound system is top notch -- As I'd expect seeing how they now film the TV show at the club itself. We get to do it all over again on Sat at the Brooklyn Bowl!

Here's my contribution to the DD Gear photolog, I only took a pic of the reverb tank, which was set up backstage. Is that the serial number written on top?

While I'm not positive, I don't think it's the serial number. Maybe a personal inventory code? The same number is scratched into the wood inside the cabinet.

Does the menu come with free earplugs?

He who dies with the most tubes... wins

IvanP When you say both amps have the presence dimmed doesn't that mean turned down? It looks to me that both presence knobs are turned all the way up clockwise.

Dimed, like slang for on 10. A dime is US$.10
