Awesome. Calendar set.

I gotta get me one of those.

I just bought it at Sundazed Website. It's limited to 1 copy by user.

Wow, that promo text on the Sundazed site totally disregards Paul Johnson's career and the high regard in which so many fans have always held The Belairs. "The Belairs would have remained a footnote in surf annals if not for the huarache-shod detectives at Sundazed." Really?

I believe Stephen McParland and his magazine "California Music" brought a spotlight on Paul Johnson and his releases in the 1980s.
As Jonpaul said, there are so many collectors of PJ´s records and articles. IMHO the article "Surf Music. What surf music do you mean" in
the California Music magazin was really an eye opener for me.
The text was later on also put into the album "The Belairs and the origins of surf music 1959 - 1963" on Eloki Records/Hepcat 1987 and the cd release from 1993.
From a mainstream view The Belairs maybe a footnote in muasic history, but not for CM or surf music collectors! I am glad that he is still among us and shares his memories with us and still writes new music!

Jonpaul, that blurb is LAME! WTF???? Ridiculous.

Fortunately, the RECORD itself is most certainly NOT lame! I'm listening at this very moment! I also picked up Al Casey's Surfin' Hootenanny, which the store accidentally ordered for me - I didn't even know that was out! (I also got Iron Maiden's limited edition - 6000 - Empire of the Clouds 12" single!)

The Belairs LP on the stereo, a large latte in hand from Checker Records, one of Michigan's best independent record shops AND coffee shops - the Record Store Day off to a great start! Thumbs Up Have a great weekend, all!

How is Volcanic Action? I had to order it online today so it will be a few day.

I didn't see the list until this afternoon. Message in to the local stores to see if they still have one.

Listened to it twice today - it sounds PHENOMENAL! The sound is just great and the red vinyl is awesome. The sleeve is OK, nothing special. But overall, it's a great package. Really glad I got it! Now, to listen to Surfin' Hootenanny! Smile

Is the Belairs LP the same live recordings from the cd a few years back?

Jeff(bigtikidude)

Yes, nothing new on her, all already been released (I'm pretty sure - the version of Kamikaze sounded a bit different than the one I'm used to). But it sure sounds great on vinyl!

Why doesn't somebody tell me about these things?! ...well I guess y'all just did - thanks for the alerting thread, Ivan! The Sundazed website has them no more but I was able to find a new one for the same price on Ebay.

It would have been tough for me to buy one on record store day 'cause Jonpaul and I were backing the very artist (PJ that is) at a mid-day jig in beautiful downtown Burbank. I did go to Amoeba the next day to see what record store day goodies were left over. I felt very fortunate to get the CCR 1969 box. -Marty

I just saw that my local record store has one more Belairs LP, priced at $30. If anybody wants it, either contact them directly (517) 439-5488 https://www.facebook.com/pages/Checker-Records/117347774951656 - or let me know if I can be of help.
