What! No way, it sounds very Stratish. Some phase or something?
I just put .11s on, I'm not going to go higher.
I don't usually like Surf Green either, I normally detest it actually...

I got it, just mentioning. I have to agree with Jeff on the color. Not my favorite at all either - it's the matching headstock sets it off, makes the whole guitar pop. —Wes DISCLAIMER: The above is opinion/suggestion only & should not be used for mission planning/navigation, tweaking of instruments, beverage selection, or wardrobe choices. |

So, this is kind of why I wanted a Strat: https://www.instagram.com/p/BCRiiuVsX6D/ I just really love playing little arpeggios based around these chord shapes and hammering on little notes or sliding into other things. That short clip is a EHX Soul Food -> MXR Chorus -> Gomez G-Spring -> Vox AC15. The Soul Food is very minor, virtually no gain just fattening. I actually struggle playing that simple thing on the Strat. I strangle a note and the 2nd to 4th fret thing just doesn't ring out. This is child's play on my other guitars. It is a picking hand issue, it just feels so different. Last edited: Feb 26, 2016 22:25:13 |

The new MIM's are fantastic guitars although I find that what they call medium jumbo frets to be a bit smaller than on the american made or at least my latest MIM which is actually a blacktop. I've outfitted my seven strats to play every style of music pickup wise that my little heart desires but just ordered a les paul. I hope it's not a huge difference in neck profile but I'm sure it will be. What strat are you getting next Jake? —The Kahuna Kings https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Kahuna-Kings/459752090818447 |

Interestingly, mine came with the little spring. I only discovered this fact when it fell out! It does its job really well. — |

Liking that kind of thing; takes me back to a favorite gal & a Pink Floyd concert. The pole-piece thing is something I've just gotten used to, short of running flats/wound 3rd. (I run my pickups probably lower than many Strat players.) There are some occasions where I'd like to change all but the G, when it's gotten to being comfortably numb. But tend to change in sets & do routine maint, so just deal with it. As they're different scale lengths (Jag/Strat), I'm interested in your thoughts on why you think right-hand picking issue, vs the difference in scale length. RH anchor point, or diminished focus on RH because of fretting hand dealing with scale length? Just curious sometimes about what constitutes 'muscle memory' so like to get different views. I must say again that matching headstock completely changes the visual of that guitar, in a good way. —Wes DISCLAIMER: The above is opinion/suggestion only & should not be used for mission planning/navigation, tweaking of instruments, beverage selection, or wardrobe choices. |

The right hand thing, just depth of the strings to the pickguard. |

I have the same problem, when I play a Jazzmaster or Jaguar, but the other way round, since I over the years I seem to have gotten over-accustomed to my Strat. Anyway, have fun with your new guitar! —Los Apollos - cinematic surf music trio (Berlin) |

I have the same issue with a Strat Jake. That and I get hung up on the middle pick either flatpicking or even worse I catch a nail on it when I finger pick. Glad you're diggin' it though. BTW your instagram account looks like photos from a magazine of the similar ilk of Fretboard Journal. Looks like someone grafted a giant head onto a baby metro's body. That would never be Jake - mostly 'cause DD's coffee sucks.
