What are good replacement tuners for a Squier Jag master without requiring modifications?

How's your digestion now?

If you could upload a couple of photos.

I have a feeling most Fender tuners are made by Ping (China) these days, that includes some Mexican and USA models too. My American Standard came with tuners made by Ping which are almost exact copies of German made Schaller. I say almost exact because they are fractionally smaller bore size. I changed mine to Schaller locking tuners and to be honest I wish I hadn't bothered because the original Ping set were superior.

Generally tuners aren't at the root of most tuning issues. Bridge and nut are where issues are going to lay. Especially nut, as I'm sure it was cut for lighter strings and most surf players put heavier than expected strings on them.

Thanks for the advice. This definitely helps.

See if you can get hold of a set of gotoh tuners, the sg series I think.
I have them on my mij Strat and I really like them. I don't so much enjoy the vintage style tuners.
