Thanks Patrick,

Fun and educational!

Here’s our set from the Nova Scotia Multifest. We focused mainly on Indigenous players and groups: Link Wray, The Ventures (Nokie Edwards), and Urban Surf Kings. Backline provided by the festival. Lots of fun!

Hey Rev,
Great set as the Multifest! Thanks for sharing. I'll catch the Jazz fest in a bit. For now, I've got to go back to work!

Thanks!!!

The other set is even better imho. The video kept crashing for me until I changed some settings. If you have the same issue try this.

Click on the cog at the bottom of the video player go to Quality and click on 360p

That set was AWESOME! ... great job, I loved it.

Rev,
I agree, a very hot set at the Jazz Fest! I have two questions. First, at the Multifest, what was the song you played after Rawhide? You didn't announce the name and I thought it was really good! Second, recently I've seen Crash playing a 5 string Jazz Bass instead of his Music Man on occasion. How does he decide which one he wants to play for a given venue?

Patrick

Hey Patrick,

The song you are looking for is one of ours, Slipstream. It is from our Astrosurf a Go Go album. Here’s a link to the studio version:

https://reverbranch.bandcamp.com/track/slipstream

Crash just recently got the Fender and wanted to try it out live for the first time. I don’t think there is any specific reason he would choose one over the other. It’s probably whatever mood he is in. Both are excellent!

Thanks for the questions,
Rev

A couple of pics from this weekend’s show at the sold out Astor Theatre in Liverpool, NS. Just over 300 people for the Liverpool Ukulele Fest show.

Hey Mike, were you billed at that show as the Urban Surf Kings or did you perform under your ukemaster persona? Great photos by the way! Nothing like a sold out show.

Patrick

Hi Patrick,

When we play in the trio, no matter what instruments we use, we are billed as Urban Surf Kings. You are right, nothing like a sold out show. Just got a copy of the video, and will upload it to YouTube soon.

Sounds great Mike, I look forward to seeing it!

Patrick

Here is the uke surf video for your listening and dancing pleasure.

You guys sound great! I'm sure audiences and venues alike love that you play at a very respectable volume.

Mike, what a great set! You guys slay on electrics and ukes! Was Crash playing a Kala U-Bass in that set?

Patrick

Thanks guys,

The Astor Theatre is a great venue. A nice early show with reasonable volume (I must be getting old lol).

Crash is indeed playing a Kala Ubass, and I am playing a Red Sands tenor uke made in Prince Edward Island. https://www.redsandsukuleles.com/
