To be published on April 6 from Arcadia Publishing (Images of America series), this is a pictorial history of the rise of surf music in Southern California during the 1960s.
I'm grateful to Brian Neal for directing Arcadia to me. They actually wanted to do a book on surf music, so they contacted Brian last summer who sent them to me. Thank you Brian!!!
This book will be widely distributed to museums, local historical societies, and bookstores. It'll also be available from Amazon, Arcadia's website (see below), and on my own website (www.johnblair.us). I'll have copies with me for the Sierra Surf Music Camp at the end of May and at the Surfer Joe Festival in June.

Surf Guitar 101 Convention in Aug.?

Excellent! I'm looking forward to this. I've seen other volumes in this series, some even surf relevant. I first noticed the series in one of the places the Big Tiki Dude includes in his post SG101 tour of surf music locations in LA and environs.

Amazon Pre-order done.
This again causes me to marvel at the make-up of this community and the interaction possible by musicians (at all levels) with the careful tenders of the history of the music, even as that history continues to be made.

SG101 is definitely great for initiating this type of arrangement. On the other hand, John is currently receiving good exposure with this new title on FB - it's being made visible to those who aren't as familiar with surf music as the audience here on SG101. -Marty
