What pedals/effects do you use for surf/instro?
Include tuner pedals and reverb pedals if applicable.
For the sake of remaining within the parameters of surf/instro, please do not go to the trouble of listing pedals that you do not use for surf/instro.
Currently, I use...
- TC Electronics Polytune Mini>
- TS808HW for mild breakup at low vol>
- EHX Soul Food for slight lead boost>
- TC Flashback Mini for rockabilly-type slapback>
- Xotic EP Booster to goose tube amp input>
- Strymon Mobius for tremolo and rotary (rotary used when covering Los SJ's 'Tempest')>
- '63 RI Reverb

Mustang III amp. I use the reverb, tremolo and delay built into the amp.
1 pedal--an Electro-Harmonix LPB-1 for volume boost.

Boss TU-2 Tuner
EH Micro Pog (just replaced by an EH Pitchfork)today
Joyo - Voodoo Octave Fuzz
Boss EQ
Behringer - UV300 Vibrato
Pigtronix Disnortion - Fuzz
Behringer - VD400 Vintage Delay
'63 Reissue Tank
I think the last three pedals are going to be replaced by my Zoom MS-50 soon. It can cover everything those last few pedals do and more as well as help me make an already too large pedalboard smaller.
And to think when I started this band I was just going to use Verb and Trem.......LOL
Cheers,
Jeff

My latest setup in guitar to amp order:
Fender PT-100 tuner
Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster (always on with my Fenders, off with my Gretsch)
EH Soul Food
Fulltone OCD
EH B9 Organ Machine
Mojo Hand Colossus Fuzz
EH Neo Clone (in fast vibro mode, used for 'I'm Branded' solo
EH Memory Toy (short slapback echo)
Strymon Flint (in mellow spring settings for use with fuzz)
Catalin Bread Topanga (for drip, replaced Boss FDR)
Ernie Ball volumepedal
T-Rex Reptile Delay (for longer tape like delays)
TC Electronic Flashback Delay (in stereomode very short slapback delay into 2 amps)
Hmmmm... seems I'm a tap dancer
I used to have a CryBaby WahWah after the OCD, but no room anymore on my board since I installed the volume pedal. WahWah in surf? Yep, Huevos Rancheros used one, as did Davie Allen. Maybe an idea for another discussion?

I'll get in this....
TC Electronic Polytune>
EHX Satisfaction(for trashy fuzz)>
Mooer Black Secret>
MXR 10 Band EQ>
Catalinbread Belle Epoch>
Strymon Flint (heavy 60s verb, gain maxed out)
I never use the Satisfaction with the Flint (or if I do, just use a light 80s verb) and am struggling to match the Black Secret with the Flint when I switch to dirty without it squealing and ice picking. I may look into a dirt pedal that handles it better or get a favourite switch for the Flint to tame it quickly on the fly.

I always put the tuner first with the thought that it's closest to the guitar & thus should get the best signal. I have no idea if there's any science behind that, but I figure if I accidentally leave the fuzz on, it would make it harder on the tuner.

Before I got the TC Flashback I used my Fender tuner at the end of my chain because it had 2 outputs for my 2 amp setup. Now I have it at the beginning of my chain and use the second output to get a clean signal to a 3rd amp (twin reverb) which has a great onboard modded reverb if we play bigger venues.
