Permalink Jet Harris and a Bass VI

New Topic

Turned on the tube tonight and caught a bit of a movie called Just For Fun. Jet paying a Bass VI on a tune called The Unknown Man or somesuch. IMDB says The Spotniks were in there too, but I didn't watch all of it. There were other acts in it, too, but non-instro.

That's why I said 'or somesuch'. Smile

It was pretty clear that the director was trying to give each song it's own look. It was equally clear he didn't have much imagination. During the Bobby Vee number, the look was furniture hanging upside down.

That's one of my favorite Jet Tunes, very catchy.

Awesome, I've never heard that.

Looks like the clip was taken from the movie.

The clip is introduced by Alan Freeman a disc jockey from the BBC in the UK.So It may be an old BBC TV show.

From the 1963 movie and now on DVD.

Book, sheet music, LP and EP to be found on eBay UK.

Man From Nowhere is one of our favorite Jet Harris songs.
We've been playing it since 2010.
In fact, we just mixed our version of for our new cd last week.

The movie Just For Fun was on cable 2 days ago. It think it may have been on Bravo one of the channels that shows 50's-60's TV shows and movies.
I watched maybe 5 minutes in the middle, had no idea that that video of Man From Nowhere was from the movie.

Is it wrong that I knew what a Bass VI was before I knew of anybody (famous/semi-famous) that played them? But, now that I know, I've got plenty of learning to do, along with creating my own bits that feature Bass VI.

It's the same clip as the movie. If it's from a TV show, the movie got it from there. But I don't think so. Part of the plot was that these acts were being broadcast. The part of the movie that I did see all took place in a broadcast studio.

I didn't flip channels because the first thing I saw was Hank Marvin and Cliff Richard, but IMDB doesn't show them in the cast.

Only by searching with the info provided. I was definitely a Jet Harris fan at the age of 8 but sadly I can't remember a thing about his solo work.

Jet is the bomb. Just getting knee-deep into his work now

Jill Martini & The Shrunken Heads

I hadn’t seen that video before. It reminds me of why I bought my VI.
