I took pity on a mid eighties solid state Fender Deluxe 85 which was heading for the trash. Everything was rotten to the core apart from the chassis and it's components so I built it a new a case. It's a surprising well behaved 60 Watt amplifier with a reasonable clean channel sounding especially good through my Surfy Bear and a Peavey Black Widow 1505 KADT speaker. Jonny Greenwood from Radiohead uses a similar model. Anywho I'm looking for a cheap 8EB2C1B or 8EB3C1B reverb tank for it, someone was selling some Chinese Bellcat tanks on eBay for very low prices but there the trail ends.

Hey, I hve the combo version of the fender deluxe 85, I loved it but now half the jacks are broken... and it is not working anymore. I would like to repare it but I am afraid that it could be more expensive than buying a new one. Any advices ?

The Jack sockets are plastic and very cheap to buy. The ceramic resisters get extremely hot and sometimes melt the solder off the joints on the underside of the board - causing the amp to fail.

I've had a Jazzmaster build going for a while that needs to be finish soon. I can't decide on the wiring options! My pickguard is missing the hole for the tone knob. My initial plan was to put one tone knob per pickup using the roller pots and have a lonely volume knob on the bottom. I can't figure out what to wire the "rhythm circuit" switch to and I feel it's an ugly wasted hole if I don't. I decided I have to decide this week or else I will never finish the guitar. If anyone has a suggestion by all means let me know.

I built a guitar (3 p'ups) recently and decided to take the tone knob out of the circuit as my nemesis with heavy reverb is darkness and the whammy bar crashed into the knob - real estate on my pickguard is tight. I plugged the hole with a chrome hole plug from the hardware store. It looks cool, machinehead / DD style.
I find guitar tone knobs to be useless with my rig and that's what the tone stack on the preamp is for anyhow.

Oops, I meant there is no hole for the volume knob. I moved the volume knob further down to where the tone knob would be to make more room for my hand.
I currently play my guitar with volume and tone at 10... sometimes I wonder if I really need any controls beyond the pickup selector.

Just in case you are not electronically minded I have to say this.
The filter Capacitors within the amp can be very dangerous if not discharged properly.
The amp is quite sought after by certain musicians and makes reasonable money in good condition. Best to get it looked at by a engineer.

First run China Rob Chapman ML-1 of which I am encouraged to mod by the Monkey Lord himself. It started life as a non pickguarded HSS shredder and I'm having some fun playing around with it.

Which model Bigsby is that one with the tension bar? I am thinking my golden Teisco with the Teisco type vibrato and Tele bridge would whammy better with that extra downward force behind the saddles. I've never been happy with the whammy action on that very pretty build of mine that I put so many thousands of inexpert hours into.

JObeast - FWIW, I find that most tension bar Bigsbys have less "whammy action" than non-tension bar models
