Clearly the Original Surfaris are yelling, "EeeeeeXotiiiic!" at the start of their version.

Here's a rock instrumental treatment of "Zorongo" by Spanish group Los 4 Jets from 1961:

I always thought they are yelling "Outside", a surfing term.

Thanks for those video links! I can now understand why Tuck was so fascinated with Zorongo.
