I always say...YES...of course we should......it's always an incredible mix of professional and amateur talent that can be shared with the World for FREE!

Yes Brian. I really love these compilations. Agree with Ron, it's an eclectic and incredible mix of both pro and amateur alike from this board. Everybody has their own different style and always listened to them. YES!

Yes, I treasure all the past ones.

yes! please continue.

Yes, please! I am a newbie to this site and one of the reasons I love it so much is the increadible collection of music to discover, enjoy, and study.
I can honestly say that the compilations and podcasts have, in just the short time I've been on the site, completely improved my song writing and definately inspired me to be a surf musician.

Yes, please keep doing these!

(hopefully in a couple of weeks I'll actually have something to submit too! Big Grin )

That should be reason enough.

Aces! Cool
How long will you be accepting entries?
It might still be a couple of weeks before I can add anything.

See the official announcement:

The deadline for submitting an mp3 is Saturday, December 21st, 2013.

Old punks never die... They just become surf rockers.

Sorry, and thanks. Embarrassed
I was so happy that I skimmed right past that part!

Thanks for this opportunity Brian! There's always such a great variety of tunes and input from everywhere. Looking forward to hearing the finished compilation Guitar

I've got the itch! I want to throw something new out there. Yes But without a band at my disposal, let's see if I can't learn to make a decent backing track in a couple months...

I've just submitted a 'live' TO's recording of Kathy Lynn and The Playboys' "Rock City". The original can be found on Sundazed 'Dancehall Stringbusters'. I'm playing lead on this one with my Tele thus no whammy.....!!

Wow, it's cool to have 3 strong tracks right out of the gate from regulars to the comps:

  • kenposurf "Man from Malta"
  • oestmann "Sea Spray"
  • The TakeOff's "Rock City (Live)".

Thanks so much!

Also, please remember a few things:

It isn't uncommon for me to be approached by some filmmaker / artist who wants to use a song in a project. We've got these licensed as "no commercial" so they have to contact the original author for use. Please put your email address in the description if you would like be contacted. It's happened a number of time over the years.

Second, remember "real band guys" we only want to receive tracks that haven't been released before, and you have no plans to put them on something official later. The track should be special for this comp.

Finally update the MP3 tags in the file with your name and contact info. I make a pass and do this for all the files before I upload to archive.org. But you can save me some effort if you do it.

Thumbs Up

Feel free to collaborate with me if you want help on a backing track Ben.

For the drummerless guitarist, I would like to offer recording live drums over the the top of your lead. PM me if you are interested in a collaboration of some sort. Maybe some other drummers can offer the same, if demand is high?

This is really cool. Online collaboration is not something too many people have done in the past. Thanks Dick and Danny!
