I know I should post this question in general discussion area.
But let's start here, and see who bites.
Have you heard the Blue Hawaiians?
Have you heard of, but not heard their music?
When you see the name, do you think
They play Hawaiian music and not surf?
If you haven't heard them,
Try here:

Or here:

I have heard them and like them very much!
I've known about them for a good while, so the name really doesn't evoke anything to me aside from their music. I think they are a mellower band, and when I see them come up, that's what I think of. I mean that in the best possible way.

Gotcha,
For Jonpaul and I, both being very much into
Surf, and the Tiki/lounge side also.
The Blue Hawaiians were that perfect crossover band.
Most of what they do is pretty mellow or middle of the road.
But if you were to hear all their cds, you'd know
That they can rock out pretty good also.
This is a very big deal for them to be back!

Their live shows are quite dynamic... not exactly LOUD, but definitely powerful and sometimes very experimental... especially with Eric on the keyboards (Hammond and Moog)...
I am so stoked...maybe I'll be able to catch a couple of their shows in the near future...

I've seen them twice and they are one of the best bands I've seen. I expected more surf music but was not at all disappointed. When that pedal steel swells in I get goosebumps. It is a big sound but they play at fairly low volume for 5 guys, Mark uses a Deluxe Reverb and Tom has the tiniest drum kit I ever saw, I found I can hear all the instruments clearly and my ears never hurt.

I was fortunate to be able to catch them 3 times at The Lava Lounge... absolutely on my list of "must see and hear" live acts. I look forward to their upcoming residency. Doug is right on: one of the best live bands ever.

Wow, this is great news. I hope I can make the 8/30 show. Wish I could make this weekend but I'm out of town.
I agree Jeff, I'd love to see them do a surf convention. Mark Sproull is an amazing guitar player IMHO.

Show was awesome tonight.
Few surf fans,
Few tiki peeps,
Some long time fans of theirs.
But lots of general public.

I really enjoyed the show Friday night, could have been longer, but a great selection of songs. Included some Bruce Lee movie thing with blistering guitar work. Maybe one of the best versions of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly that I've heard, subtle yet intense at the same time. Seemed to pull in a decent sized crowd and I like the venue. I will have to miss the next one but hopefully I can make it in October.

I sent a email with pics and a set list to Brian.
Hopefully he can post them here.
I didn't bump this thread for the show, as I didn't
Want it to take away people from the Insect Surfers show.

I might be able to make this. I have a class Thursday nights but it's in Mission Viejo so it's close? Maybe I can get there in time? I guess we'll find out?
