TubesNtweed's post made me think how much hunting for and finding cool old guitars has changed.
When I found my first vintage guitar score there was no internet and only a handful of books on the subject or brands and a lot of the information the was still not accurate.
Now you can be standing at the yard sale or estate sale, get on your smartphone, check models, values etc. all in an instant.
Between that, Ebay, Antiques Road Show and the nonplaying public thinking every old guitar is worth a ton of money........it's tough.
Surf Skater, this is a truly awesome score in this day and age!

Yeah... and everybody thinks the price they see online is what they can get from selling it to a dealer.

Finally took the time to set it up. Cleaned everything ,adjusted the neck and put fresh strings on it. I've only had a few minutes to play it so far but it sounds great, more of a garage rock guitar. Great for Link Wray stuff like Dave said. If I can figure out how to post pictures, I will, but for now I'm looking forward to playing the heck out of it!

For what was a $100 buck guitar. Cheapest I've found was one for 800 that looked in worse condition than mine.
It looked like a dog had chewed on the neck.

Congrats on the guitar (nice deal, too)! Dave, your demo sounded great - really nailed the Link Wray tone. I never saw one of those push-button vibrato circuits, too cool!

Gorgeous body curves and luscious blue color. There's lots of pleasure in seeing this.
I had uncomfortable experiences with wooden bridges that can move around. The problem is they move around. This changes tuning and intonation. Sustain improved (in my opinion) when I replaced the wood bridge with metal.

So does the tremolo actually stay on if you hold the switch? At first glance it looks like it's just a momentary kill switch, but that doesn't explain the 9v power requirement.
