Simon, you are in for a treat. They are playing better now than back in the heyday.

I am really looking forward to this! MOAM? were one of the few third-wave-bands, whose records were widely available when I started to get interested in surf music (this was before online shopping and filesharing became a common thing) which meant that I listened to them quite often.
But I never saw them live, which is about to change now. Excited!
Simon are you going on thu in Berlin?

Going to Haarlem Wednesday. Have seen 'em a couple of times in the mid and late 90's and that was pretty cool. Very curious to see how they are now.

London on Monday. Can't wait. Simply one of the best live bands I've ever seen. I think I'll miss the flaming TV sets though.

Esattamente! Are you coming too?
Please note that the concert was moved from Festsaal Kreuzberg (which burned down in Juli) to the Lido, which is actually a little smaller (it's an old cinema without the seats). But last time I checked there were still tickets available.

Yeah, I thought so too, when I saw the KEXP videos a while ago. I totally envy you and everybody else though, who has seen them during their more "surfy" early days. But in the end a good live band is a good live band.

It is very possible. If so, we'll see on thursday.
I come with the Pazzo Furioso Sensazionale Ralf Kilauea.

Looks like Coco did not come with them...

Yesterday Man or Astro-Man played a show over here in Belgium. I wasn't there so I can't make any judgment on their performance. But today I read some comments on Facebook from people (including some good musicans and big fans), that where at the show but seems to be quit dissepointed.
Here are some quotes from Facebook (some are translated from dutch to english)
"Is it Man Or Astroman?? Or a complete waste of time?.."
"At least I have the memory of them being good in the past"
"sad band, it had nothing to do with astroman of 15 years ago"
"Too bad! They used to be good!"
"It was a parody."
So please don't shoot me, I don't wanna blacken Man or Astro-Man. I was just very suprised with what I reading and I was wondering what could be the cause of the dissapointment?

Doesn't tally with my experience of the London show.

How was it then?
Well, I can only guess at the moment, but perhaps people expected to hear more tunes from their early albums or at least something along that lines?
As much as I would love to hear all that classic MOAM? tracks like "Invasion of the Dragonmen" or "Madness in the Streets" etc. I really don't expect that this is what they will actually play (one or two classics would be sweet though ). I listened to some more recent live recordings before I bought my tickets, because I had already heard that the band sounds quite different nowadays. I got myself a ticket never the less and I just hope to hear some interesting, powerful and surf-influenced music, which I think will not be a problem.
But this is all mere guess work... I will see for myself tomorrow!

Unless something has changed in the past month since we played with Man or Astro-man?, you will be treated to tracks from the entire history of MOAM?, excluding tracks from EEVIAC and Spectrum. 'Invasion of the Dragon Men' has been a part of every show I have seen since 2010.
I am not sure what these comments are referring to, unless MOAM? happened to have been having a very off night.
Their new album does sound different, although it is an honest extension of the Made from Technetium and 1000x releases. But the band still does a majority of Made from Technetium and earlier songs during their set. I haven't heard more than three of the new songs in one set.

MOAM in Haarlem was awesome, lots of old stuff, the best tracks of the new album, one hour and 15 minutes long show, I loved it!

It's hard to tell from the photos, but it looks like just Starcrunch and Birdstuff are on this tour, with a different bassist and rhythm guitarist. As a huge, longtime fan, I have been happy with all of their line-ups, even the clone tours of the 90's. Having said that, the show I saw recently with Coco and Ivana Nova was one of their best ever, so it's disappointing that it's not the same line up for this tour. One of the big things for me is Coco's between song banter, so that would be missed. But I'm sure they are still putting on a great show. The set is mixed with old and new songs, so there should be something for fans of each era of the band.

I find it weird that the band doesn't seem to bother to let their fans know in advance who is or isn't going be on a tour or show on their facebook page or something.I gotta admit if I went to one of their shows and Coco wasn't there I'd fill kinda cheated. So Noah you mentioned that MOAM? are playing songs from Eeviac and Spectrum? I find this rather hard to believe.Birdstuff must have done some serious arm twisting.

I agree, not announcing who was going to be (or not going to be) on this tour is a little disappointing. I guess the risk might be lost ticket sales, but I think even if they had announced it in advance ticket sales would have been strong anyway.

Rob is surely a HUGE part of the MOAM? live experience, and it is difficult for me to imagine them playing without him. Hell, the Guitargeek festival videos show that there was really something missing with his absense.
But the fact is that Rob and his wife adopted a newborn this year, so his ability to tour is not what it once was. I wish them all the luck though, as the songs really do speak for themselves.
Now, the question remains as to who is playing rhythm for them on this tour.
