Yo Jake-o,
In the first wave of Surf, Eddie Bertrand used a Bandmaster.........'nuf said.
For what it's worth, Ole Edward J here has a gaggle of dem Bandmasters. They have become my first choice. I just line up as many as it takes to get the job done. (Oh yeah, I don't discrimate either, I have five Showmans as well).

I was speaking completely tongue in cheek! I'm a bassman person myself. There is just too much of an 'only a showman will do the trick' ethos around here.

Believe Me..I collect em' better than I play em' so the fact that this is a Japanese Fillmore really doesn't bother me, especially when I gaze upon its beautiful metallic blue finish.

Main rig, practice rig, gig rig (yeah, right)....ONLY rig!!!!
Guitar is a Squier Deluxe in Daphne Blue. LOVE this color. 2nd only to Surf Green. I know the Marshall isn't 'surf', but A) it was FREE!!!!...and B) it does have spring reverb.

That is a surfy lookin color indeed, Staredge... so, my main/only guitar (a 2008 HW1 strat w/ various mods), a 59 Bassman LTD RI which just came down the chimney today, and a 63 RI tank w/ tube & cap mods. I'm trying to be on my best behavior this year so Mrs. Claus brings me another strat or JM/jag next time.

I got two main rigs. When my blonde 63 Showman is working again (after blown down at Surfer Joe 2009...) I play my Showman.
The one I played the latest gigs is a Yamaha TA60 amp from 1968 with a USA Reissue Reverb unit from the 90 s. The reverb is modded with 6K6 tube and two other, better tubes.
Ive built in a pair of old better sounding Hammond Gibbs springs.
The original "shitty" Fender transformator (who exploded while playing a gig...) is changed for a high quality transformator for european 230 volts. Guitar on this pic is a Yamaha SGV300. I painted it in cream white (with matching samurai head). And I cutted out a red tortoise pickguard for it. Ah, and I ve spent her block inlays.
Great live rig!

Holy crap, Ralf! I'd love to see closeups of your modded 300 if possible, that looks great!

Here's my current surf rig, although I'm currently on the hunt for a BF Bandmaster.
And here she is in a live setting.

This was the rig I ran last night at our record release party, you can't see my pedalboard, but there is one.

New guy here... I've got a mess of pedals coming in, but here's my stuff.
— I want less sustain. My notes are so tortured it seems only humane to let them die as quickly as possible.
