Who was he?
I picked this gem up the other day.

http://www.vonweirdos.com/forsale/Surf-Stompin-Don-Dailey-LP_530.htm

Not from them but in a local used record store.

This disc is not what I would call first wave Surf Guitar by any means but I dig it alot. Much more musical.
You can tell it was a cash in record kinda twangy, kinda rockabilly, kinda jazzy, kinda surfy... a real mix of the sounds from back in the day.

Also the record list 10 songs but there are 12 songs on it I wonder what the titles of the missing songs are?

"Maybe there aren't any surf bands; there's only surf music?" Tuck

Did you ever find out who Don Dailey was?

Sounds like a rack job outfit (by the end):

So it sounds like Don Dailey was one of Jerry Cole's alternate identities?

I won't say this with 100% certainty, but most Crown Records surf albums were played by Jerry Cole. I've seen a few things that seem to agree, like this: http://acerecords.co.uk/hot-rod-twangin-the-1960s-crown-recordings

Storm Surge of Reverb: Surf & Instro Radio

In the "Twangin' the 60's" notes (on ACE), it mentions Don Dailey & how it was one of Jerry Cole's real early projects for Crown. Some of the tunes on "Surf Stompin'" are also on a circa 1960 Crown LP by Billy Boyd "Twangin' Guitars", both Jerry Cole projects. The liner notes in the ACE comp were actually done with Jerry & Mike Vernon (of 3 Ball's Of Fire). He let's quite a few "cat's out of the bag" concerning individual tunes as well as "industry practices" of the day in the liner notes & the whole thing is well done, sounds MUCH better than the CROWN LP's ! (Anyone really interested in Jerry Cole's prolific carreer should also check out the Sundazed re-issues...GREAT, informative liner notes !).
