Hey everyone,

Just curious to see if there are any other fans of Rautalanka out there? If not, hopefully this will open up a new door to some great old tunes/bands, and a fun genre for someone.

from wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rautalanka

I've always tended to favor minor styled music composition. I don't know what it is but I think that's what stuck w/ me and made me want more after finding out some known bands in Finland and their music.

Some of my favorite tunes: Enough for some good exposure for those of you who haven't come across these yet.

  • The Savages - Tunturi Satu

http://youtu.be/BcD3qaQRscw

  • The Sounds - Illan Tullen

http://youtu.be/WRVoRyCtpqM

  • The Twangers - Tähdet meren yllä

http://youtu.be/UtgngfpGDAY

  • The Rangers - Uralin Twist

http://youtu.be/UtgngfpGDAY

  • The Spectre - Lennä mun lempeni twist

http://youtu.be/ijOX9Uxj5dE

  • The Spectre - Kertokaa se hänelle

http://youtu.be/5tqXuOkLves

Enjoy!

Allen

There are lots of Rautalanka fans here, myself included. There are several threads in the forums, including this one: http://surfguitar101.com/forums/topic/16165/
Thanks for sharing your favorites. Great stuff!

haha oops... I guess I'll take my slap on the wrist now for not searching about it first. Oh well. It's fun music for sure!

No slap intended. Smile Great music!

I got to see The Sounds play last weekend in Helsinki, Finland, they were playing & sounding fantastic.

Hey guys, I just ran across this listening to a playlist on Youtube. Is this band/song accurately named? I had not heard of a Rautalanka band called The Avengers. Good stuff.

Juoksuhauta Twist

The Mystery Men?
El Capitan and The Reluctant Sadists
SSS Agent #31

I have that song on a compilation entitled "Rautalankaklassikot - Kolme Kitaraa". I don't read Finnish, but THIS seems to suggest they were active in the early '60s and so there may not be a lot of their stuff available.

Great stuff...my faves are The RoadRunners, Eldanka, Agents, The Moments, The Mustangs, The Charades etc. etc.

I believe the band is called Eldanka and the record is called 'Twangin' Tritones' which is also the name of one of the songs.
Regardless, it's a great record, and they're really nice guys for sending The TO's a free copy when I asked where we could buy it!
You can also find lots of vids on YouTube and they have a FaceBook too.
No, I'm not on their pay roll.....! Wink
