...a few years back, the JH School that I teach at went on a field trip to the Fender Corona facility. We had a great "behind the scenes" tour...but, for me, the highlight was shaking hands with Mr Wronski at the end of the tour.

Dave W was doing the final adjust and inspect on the Jaguars and Stratocasters before shipping them out...he signed a Fender Inspection/Hang Tag for me as a momento...of course, I was totally stoked!

When we go on tour this summer I want to tour the factory so bad. Anybody know how to get a tour?

DP,
Thanks so much for posting this -- someone mentioned it to me recently, and I couldn't believe that I'd missed it!

Gotta love good old John "Hey Normie" Ratzenberger as the host too.

re: JakeD above^

maybe contact DaveW by pm?...or simply locate the Fender Corona phone# on the 411 and give them a call...seemed like friendly folks to me when I visited...

That was cool to see. I worked at Mesa/Boogie when I was in high school. The woodshop was gnarly with all the saw dust and sprays. The assembly/electronics side was more desirable.

diceo:

When we visited Fender Corona, I wasn't a JH STUDENT...I'm a JH Science teacher! Our school visited back in 2002, on that trip, I was one of the chaperones.

So dp, who had more fun? You or the students?

Did anyone else notice that the Fender guy said the type of wood had way more affect on the sound than the pickups? I'd sure like to go down there and hear that for myself.
