Wow..just checked pricing / seating for the show in Raleigh; $85 !

I'll have to pass.

METEOR IV on reverbnation

I was able to pick up 3rd row tickets for the Columbia, MD show. Stoked!!!

I got crappy tickets at the Hollywood Bowl but at least I will have seen them in my lifetime. My last concert I bought tix for was Oingo Boingo Farewell show so for me it's important to take these opportunities. I fear it's way too late to see McCartney.

Sound of the Surf, the movie
Facebook SOTS

I'll stick to seeing the Beach Boys tribute band.

Stoked! I went online right at 10:00AM the day they went on sale and got pretty decent seats dead center just a few rows behind the mixing booth. There really aren't any bad seats at the Hollywood Bowl. The view from up high is amazing and the sound is fantastic. My tickets were only $62 each. They're actually only $49 but ticketmaster ads it's charges. Cant wait!

BOSS FINK "R.P.M." available now from DOUBLE CROWN RECORDS!

Saw them for free down on the National Mall with Carl and Dennis.
They were like ants from where I was though.

That was a cool time when they had those free concerts. I also remember seeing Johnny Cash once too.

Caught the show last night in Raleigh - man did they sound great! Two sets, probably 2 full hours of music (maybe a smidgen longer.) Vocals were amazing, full band was really pretty tight too (being so early in the tour.) Even had a neat tribute to Carl & Dennis thrown in.

Read in a recent news snippet that they've rehearsed 50 songs spanning all their albums for the tour. Don't think I heard 50 last night, but easily 35+ (sorry didn't take notes) - and they definitely had a nice mix in the set.

Lil' Fady Ladies had a great time at their first concert too. Sharing that was priceless.

PS - Lots of Jaguar love on stage last night. Al spent quite a bit of the evening with his brand new JAGMARR (credit to Morphball Murph on that name) [ Editorial Correction: Morphball is GETTING an Orange JAGMARR. Murph coined the most excellent guitar name that should have been. ]

I've seen them many times over the years but none since Al got booted and it became the Mike Love show featuring Bruce Johnston.

Al's shows have always been really good but considering Brian and Al are back in the fold for this tour, I would see them if I had the chance.

Yes, they are not what they used to be but when they're gone, they're gone!

Those two pic are FANtastic. Thanks for posting them.
If any of you have followed my comments on the BB's, you'll know that I've seen them many times.

Once in Sept.1963 with Dave and Al...and no Brian
Once in Mar.1964 with Al and Brian...and no Dave
Once in Jan.1965 with Brian...and no Glen
Once in Dec.1971 with no Brian.

David Marks says, "I'm really looking forward to celebrating this important milestone in The Beach Boys' history with the other guys, and with Capitol Records - where it all began 50 years ago. It means a lot to me that we can all reunite and pay tribute to the fans who have kept the music alive."

That's a nice sentiment, Dave....but if the BB's really wanted to 'pay tribute to the fans who (really) have kept the music alive'..they wouldn't be asking $985.00 for front row seats in Seattle or Eugene, which is where I'd have to go to see them.

That's right, not every seat is $985.00.....they subtract $25 every time you move back one row.

I'm not a banker, a lawyer, a dentist, a surgeon, or a stock broker. And I wasn't when I paid a dollar and a half to see them the first time.

Sour grapes...naw, just soggy corn flakes. Sigh

Good on ya for getting the daughters of to a good start, Fady! And thanks for posting the pics, especially the one with the orange "Jagmarr"; I would have felt really envious, but got an email from MF just yesterday that is finally in the mail, woot.

Looks like they hit the thrift store for their shirts before the tour! I won't be seeing them, but have heard good reports from their tour so far. Unless I had a time machine and could see them in the early to mid 60's, I'm happy with listening to their recordings.

haha I was thinking the same thing. Seems like they caught some kind of 'bad taste in clothes' disease back in the early 70's.... Penicillin evidently doesn't cure that. haha

"Tuck yer effin' shirts in fellas" that's what Murry would have said.
And a $50 fine as well. Cool

Big Grin Yes

...good news is that while they may be going fashion/color blind in their older age, they definitely are not going tone deaf.

Right on, right on...
But I still prefer the vintage look. Less colorful, but more professional. hehe

the first concert i took my son to was the beach boys also. he was about 11 and stood in front of me and sang the entire show except 'kokomo'. it's a cool thing to share with your kids.

It's a strange thing.... my youngest boy (14) looks spookily like Dave Marks. (spookily is a word, right ?)

Bump Smile

NPR are streaming an hours worth of music from this tour and have some glossy photographs to go along with it.

Enjoy!
