Just discovered this song while perusing the old Yahoo archives. WOW - really ahead of it's time. I dig it!

I'm back playing keys and guitar with Combo Tezeta

Yeah, that's a great, great track.

I first heard it on the Toes on the Nose compilation, which is highly recommended.

"It starts... when it begins" -- Ralf Kilauea

We did this song live for a bit with The von Drats, always one of my favorites to play and definitely a challenging guitar line!

formerly SvD, bots.... member since 2006. Same game different name!

The main lick he does there is basically the same as "Surfer's Slide", but I like it here taken down a bit with some grit to the tone. I could really see this getting an Eleki type treatment. It almost sounds like that to me. Great track, definitely.

Love Sandy Nelsons' drumming on this track!

I love Hal Blaine's drumming on it? Yet another song where it is credited to Mr. Blaine and another drummer on the interwebs. But I think the session sheets have Mr. Blaine's famous "Hal Blaine was here" stamp on them...

You know, I had the feeling someone might come along and correct me on that. Smile
I thought I had heard or read somewhere that it was Sandy Nelson, but obviously not correct. Non-the-less it's some cool drumming on that record.

Well, Casbah is on Toes on the Nose and if you google the album, the preliminary searches make it look like Sandy played on the album, which has led other sites to list him as the drummer. Plus, Podolor plays on Casbah to further the confusion...but the Ghouls sounds like Hal more than Sandy.

In fact, this is why I was asking. I found the old thread but not the tab, so I hoped someone still has it. Thx for looking.

About 10 years ago, a German company (ATM Records) put out 4 CD's of "Hondells" stuff w/just about everything related to the Hondells/Ghouls/Podolor recordings. Most all the notes are from author Stephen J. McParland, & ALL session notes, dates, & locations (really thorough) are listed so we believe em'. Wayne Edwards is the drummer on "Haulin' Honda" and only SOME of the Ghouls material (where Hal Blaine wasn't utilized). Wayne Edwards was also a drummer for the "road Hondells". Although the Ghouls tunes are creatively performed, you should be able to pick the chords & melodies out by ear (albeit challenging).
