HERE ARE A FEW PICTURES FROM MY 4/22/11 SURF-ROCK SHINDIG (these and plenty of other pix are available in FLICKR links posted here earlier in the thread); but these are classic!! first, 2 pix of THE SPACE RANGERS w/THE ALIEN SURFER BABES (btw RATTLESNAKE RALPH plays in the musical back-up band for the ladies; I dig the "natural" "green" photo especially. Our German friends will never be the same!!) hey BRIAN, how about this picture, 'THE NIGHT OF THE JAGUARS', as Pic Of The Day at some point?? I'M HAVIN' WAY TOO MUCH FUN! CAN'T WAIT TO RE-UNITE W/THE SPACE RANGERS IN ITALY IN JUNE AT SURFER JOE!! UNSTEADY FREDDIE — |

Wow! Wow! Wow! What a show last night - the final of the tour @ the Summit. It was really great meeting & seeing the band for the first time. Super great guys. I know, not news for those who'd met 'em at the Convention last summer - but it's worth saying again - they truly are swell fella's. Last nights set was en fuego! Like many here who've fallen hard for the Guitar / Bass / Keys / Drums sounds on "Ready to Take Off!" - I really dig the record. That said, I must say - the energy and presence with 2 guitars was simply fantastic. It could have been the guys just putting it out there for the last set before heading back to Germany. It could have been the vibe @ the summit. Or it could have just rocked more (as Muck says - it had balls!) Yes. Yes indeed. With the greatest love & appreciation for the record, I think I like the 2 guitar versions better. Super Big Thanks, Space Rangers, for coming back to the states! I know it's no small feat to break away from family, work, and life to skip the pond and tour for a couple weeks. Nor inexpensive. I'm sure I speak for many in saying Thanks for the sacrifices y'all made to be here. Until next time! PS - having that shirt stashed away to make sure one made it all the way to NC was icing on the cake! —Fady El Mirage @ ReverbNation Last edited: Apr 30, 2011 09:22:55 |

fady, thanks for posting that. i once again really enjoyed the 'space rangers'. i knew from the first time i saw them last summer that they would become a favorite of mine. muck asked how i felt about the sound without the keyboards and the addition of the rhythm player. i miss the keyboards because i'm used to hearing it in the songs but the rhythm player is a nice addition to the band also. it gave the music a little more of an 'edge' for lack of a better word.........for those not at the chapel hill show the other night the rangers added a nice cover of 'the lonely bull' and 'a taste of honey' (or as daniel said, 'a taste of money') good, good stuff. — |

Adding my thanks, too Fady. BTW folks, this performance by The Space Rangers also sounded GREAT over the air during the Friday noon show on WUNC. Missed them live since I couldn't make it to Chapel on Friday. Hope their back for the 2012 Instro-Summit! @mom-surfing: loving the CD! Difficult to hit the eject button. |

What a class act these guys are! It's easy to see why everyone at their last US appearance became so enamored with them. Just a tight performance, and a great selection of covers and originals. You had to love Daniel's little blurbs between songs too... "we drank too much beer, but luckily it was American beer..." — |

WUNC got some radio studio footage w/ the Space Rangers up on YouTube. Just wanted to say, that the YouTube clip was shot by The Chief instigator (Crispy), and before the Space Rangers were on air live, they ran through a few tunes to get a mix sound / levels. I walked into the audio engineers / management room and listened. The folks mixing the Space Rangers were asking each other ...do you think this sounds ok? I listened to their mix, then I added my comments; the bass drum kick was to high (pounding), the bass guitar needed to be back down a bit and the rhythm guitar was over powering the lead guitar. So, it sounds like it came out sounding Ok? Sometimes, you just can’t let the surf fall to the ears of chance. — |

What a great group of guys! I'm so glad I got the chance to see them and hang with them again!! For the record, I really liked the 2nd guitar in the mix. Then again, I love the organ and how they integrate it. Best case scenario to me... 5 piece Space Rangers!! —
