Ok regarding the Jam at the convention.
we are only going to have 1 hour.
instead of 1 1/2 hours or 2.
So I want the 8 to 10 songs in the Jam to be really cool,
kinda obscure songs. Not just run of the mill surf hits.
But.... That being said,
Matt Quilter of the Reventlos is going to be doing his "Wave Machine"
thing on Sun Evening 7 to 10 Aug. 8th, at Don the Beachcomber.
It's Matt doing Live surf leads over backing tracks.
But he wants people to get up and play rhythm and or Bass with him.
He has 3 hours or more of standard tunes, and I am sure that Endless summer will be in there.
I will post a list of all those songs sometime, so you can pick a few you want to do.
hope this explains why I want the Jam at the convention to be a bit more
special.

How about the jam include all Shadows' tunes?
Or an all eleki jam? (That one was serious)

I did a "Wave Machine" gig with Matt. I was supposed to "finger sync" on bass while Matt and a sax player played leads over the tracks, because the contract called for a trio. Matt was nice enough to let me play guitar with him instead-and even take a few leads. It was loads o' fun. Highly recommended. I WILL be there.

SERIOUSLY:
Third Star to the Left (Nocturnes/Space Cossacks)
Red Sunrise (Space Cossacks)
Scrambler (Sandals)

well the third star and scrambler are what I was thinking of.
being that the Space Cossacks are going to be there.
I would kinda shy away from playing their stuff if you get my drift.

Great minds think alike!
Another idea would be play the entire "Endless Summer" Soundtrack in order with players rotating in and out.

Brian
Last year Karen Dobronyi played that part on a melodica. It was awesome. But...are we even going to do that song again this year?
Sorry-I missed the jam last year. Speaking of Karen, maybe BTD could line up Szandora or the Pontani Sisters so she'll have some distaff company.

Jeff,
Norm, Ran, JonPaul and I are planning to play 2 songs with Jim Frias, can you reserve that for us in the jam?

Jeff, the jam is the highlight of the day. Really, ask anyone. Only 8-10 songs? And beginning players love run of the mill surf hits.

That would be strange company indeed.

Danny, if it is Medley form like last year fine.
otherwise its got to be 1 song.
Ferenc,
I'm sorry I have 1 hour for the sg101 members Jam,
that's why it would be cool if it was really cool songs.
if people want to play super standards.
Sunday at Don's, 7 to 10 pm, 3 hours of them,
with Matt Quilter, he wants people to get up and play with him.
not just play by himself.
I hope a lot of people come to this on Sun. evening.
for the wind down party.
