Ben,
LA traffic only sucks when your stuck in it when its stop and go,
you should have left Bay area, early enough(i.e. 4 am or so, to get there by noon)
next time, everybody needs to add 2 hours to their eta. to be where they want when they want.
I was bummed to see people get to Suzy's and or The Pier late, and miss great stuff.

santiago, I bet if u went to the convention and met Norman u would have seemed like a nerd to him but to be honest that guy seems like a nerd himself. He's a Horror movie and surf music nerd. But I think we are all squares in some kinda of way He seems like a cool dude. It sucks cuz u could have gotten some cool stuff signed. Maybe next time we'll try to go.

sorry if it was a bit much for you.
but I just had to soak it all in.
and I think you held up pretty well.
What's with the dis, dude? It wasn't a bit much for me...I enjoyed every minute and would do it again in a heart beat (if I had the coin). I even got a nostalgic kick out of helping you haul amps and tents around before and after the Sunday show. Other than dealing with the time difference which made get really sleepy embarrassingly early, there was no "holding up" on my part. I was digging the music, the ambience, the scenery, and the commaraderie and wish it could have gone on longer.

Sorry no dis there, just saying.
I just know that a lot of people would not be able to handle all that music in 3 days.
thanks for all your help on Sat. and Sun morning with the set up of the sg101 event, or the pier show, I really appreciate it.

Hey Billy, how is your Twin doing after Patrick killed it. Maybe it was just in shock.
That's a good question! Haven't had time to check it out yet. I'm leavin' for Ireland this Wednesday for 10 days! Stoked!
I fly back on the 16th, and play at the HB museum on the 17th.
I'll kiss me a barney stone and pray that me amp works just fine for the museum my laddie.
Luck of the Irish you know.
B-B-O
I just plugged in my Twin to check it out.
I had to chuckle. The Master Volume knob was turned all the way down.
The amp sounds better than ever. Too funny. It must be me lucky charms............
Funny you should say tht Billy because someone did the same to my bass amp. John Paul was saying how "farty" my amp sounded and when I checked it out, every knob had been set to "zero", including the tube setting and all the high's and low's. I guess someone wasn't happy just using the volume knob. Next time I'll duct tape every knob just in case...
Have fun in the motherland and raise a pint o' Guiness for us Yanks!

what a blast. way too much sensory overload...my head is still spinning!
Playing "Surf Rider" with Mr Paul Johnson and Rick and Duff on drums was a highlight experience for me...the Paul unexpectedly called out another tune: "Ramrod"...fun stuff...fortunately, "Ramrod" is a blues-in-A...pretty easy stuff to fake! Man, that Duff really rocked the drums!
Later, playing "Diamond Head" with Danny and Ivan was super-awesome. It actually came off quite tight with the minimum of FUBAR. Both guitarists have excellent super-high energy...excellent, excellent, excellent!
Man...Dusty Watson absolutely rocked the entire universe...a wicked drum-off...a killer set with Slacktone...
man...more later...

I noticed that little sequence and thought, "Wow, that DP knows his stuff! Random additional song and he's cool with it."

one of the best things i saw and heard was the psycho-cowboy-bass-dude playin' the red Jaguar Bass...man...he was hootin' and a hollerin' and sweating like a screaming Texas peccary...all while dancin' and stompin' like a crazy man playing the bass...and he freakin' RULED!
absolutely awesome!
much more to come....

I've put up some pictures. I'm afraid they're not all that they might be. Certainly not the same as being there.
General Link
A few scenes:
Margaya
Exotic
PJ & Mom
Eddie Bertrand with the Eliminators
Secret Samurai
BTD, Tiki Tena and Brian (Sorry you're blurred, folks)
Pollo del Mar
The Madeira
The AquaSonics
The Boardwalkers
The Detonators
Slacktone
The Insect Surfers
I haven't quite sorted out the pictures of Outerwave. They were the backbone of the play with the Outerwave gigging that Jeff organized, as players and providers of equipment, and they played as a unit, too. My apologies. This meeting wouldn't have taken place without their support.

So...here's a bit more...
Ferenc and Pollo del Mar are playin' "Flash of Green"...last song of the set...
Danny from the Tomorrowmen is subbing on rhthym-guitar...
Ferenc breaks a string right before heading into the final solo bit! Yikes! his guitar is now useless! Never fear...Danny single-handedly finished up the tune...awesome awesome awesome!

so a bit more:
the Madeira are on-stage playin' so freaking loud and tight...they are just like a screaming-metal-machine-of-all-surf...the walls are shakin'...the disco ball overhead is swingin'...the floors and doors are pounding...
it's so loud, my girlfriend Tiffany seems deaf and looks like she's going to puke any second!...
Tiffany says: "This band sounds like heavy metal..."
I said..."What? Did you say something?"
mucho thanks to the Madeira for the monumental pounding surf they provided...
