So gang, I've been into this website for quite awhile and since I haven't posted too often, I don't know if I'm ahead or behind on this call (recommendation). But, if you haven't checked it out yet, you should. If you ever wanted to be your own DJ for yourself or others, now's your chance! Play with the so-called Music Genome project and socialize.

Thing is, this is a GREAT site for finding the audio for music you might not have in your own record collection...especially from genres you NEVER collected.

This is also a great site to turn you on to music you never knew existed, by setting it up to play similar artists and styles to the ones you choose...talk about being influenced! But don't expect to find artists like Necrobeach ;) The social networking capabilities are coming along and it promises to get alot of musicians and fans together who like the same kind of music.

If you are aware of other sites like this, please inform us. For now, I'm content with this. You can drown yourself in this like YouTube because you can find SO MUCH stuff! (And of course, it routes you to go get it.)

I haven't been enthused with their Surf library, but it IS there, so check it out. Or ask it to create a radio station based on The Ventures, Shadows, Dick et al. All Surf bands should submit their materials to this site!

For pure Surf listening, XM Radio Surf shows probably has a better selection right now... but here's an opportunity for modern bands to get noticed as well! Go for it!

I've been on Pandora for a couple months now too, and I agree, it is an amazing site. I also agree that the surf selection is kind of laking, in fact when you create a channel by genre, there isn't even a surf channel to select, but there still is some promising ideas here. If everyone on this site goes and checks out that site, it will only help to show the admin of Pandora.com that there is still very much a living budding amazingly supportive surf community on the internet. Go support the thing that makes us all happy, finding new and interesting music.

I put in Los Straitjackets as my station starter and added Link Wray in the "guide us" tab. I'm getting a great mix!

Swing! Twang! Shake! Twist!

Yeah, Pandora is pretty cool. I've been using it for about a year now until very recently (my work now blocks it Crying ) I've configured tons of 'stations' based on particular artists and the selection isn't half bad. Their selections are kind of broad, but not very deep, if that makes sense. But hey, its free!

I have a few friends that work for Pandora. There jobs are to listen to artists all day and analyze their stylings and how they relate to others. I think the company's based in the Easy Bay.

Science friction burns my fingers.

Pandora is not available in Germany currently, so I stick with Last.FM. You also need an UPC code to supply music to Pandora, which takes $50.

You can get the boy out of the Keynes era, but you can’t get the Keynes era out of the boy.

LastFM is good - I've been a member for quite a while now.

I only log my surf music listening habits as a way to find new bands and I've found a number of good Europian ones.
