Search for surfy Gretsch goes on!
The surfiest Gretsch I ever played was my old Duo Jet with Dynasonics. Sometimes I regret getting rid of it.

Unfortunately I couldn’t have good results with Dynasonics Duo Jet, too weak and twangy for my taste and muffling with overdrive. Now my favorite is new Rally reissue with Super Hilotrons, a lot of clearness and balls.

The entire second ‘Verb record was recorded on my 1957RI Duojet with the stock dynasonics. I believe I double tracked it some with Mike’s thin skin avri jag on a lot of tracks and his 6118 with tv jones on one or two.
I have since (that was recorded in ‘07?) upgraded to the t-armonds from TV Jones which are a lot thicker. The bridge pickup is quite powerful. I actually wish it were a little lighter output, but if you wanted mosrite output with alnico slugs, it would be the way to go. I used it some on the first Desolate Coast album (mostly jazzmaster and some jaguar and strat in the leads though my vintage 6117 with tv jones classic/+ is on there una few spots as well) and sparingly on the second (lots of my sharp fives, and some jaguar, jazzmaster, and the rare appearance of my Les Paul with p90s on the leads).
This, while not a gretsch has appeared in The ‘Verb “reunion” shows as well as both Desolate Coast albums.

Love your sound on “time slips away”, just listened to it recently.
