Whoa - inside the tank?! Could that be just for transport? I have a '63 tank that was purchased in mint condition, and it had three pieces of foam glued to the inside cab right where the springs hover. I think those were just for transport, when the tank lock is engaged. So the foam doesn't really touch the springs when the tank lock is released.

Of all the reverb pans I've had, maybe 10 or so, vintage to current Accutronics and MOD units, none have ever had foam glued in. Most likely the original owner did it, wasn't satisfied with the change and sold it.
