Permalink The Season of Love (cover), ranked #1 for 17 weeks in Japan in 1968 - by an 11 year old young surf guitarist and old dad

This is our new favorite: Koi No Kisetsu (The Season of Love , or 恋の季節), which topped the Japanese Oricon music chart for 17 weeks when it came out in 1968. Mina and I love this tune and although quite simple, the melody is cool enough and we decided to add a twist and put some surf rock elements in it. Mina also thought using a more contemporary drive tone for one solo part in the middle would be good too. She plays the lead guitar so I let her. I think it's a good idea for the new generation of surf music lovers to explore a bit as well. I believe the original surf rock guitarists were always experimenting as well. We thought using P90s for this song would sound good, and it did.

Well, hope you guys like this old tune from the Far east. Wink

Oh, also a non-stop surf tune playlist Mina has prepared for you...

Cool! I like it.
It does have nice flow to it.

I think so too....it topped the chart for 17 weeks (not consecutively but still), and still not another song in Japan has broken that record if I am not wrong. Cheers!
