Here is my latest kit-I bought it just for the Boss Stingrays. It is a PDP New Yorker in Electric Green Sparkle. I have added a KickPort to help the 16" bass. So far it has two gigs under its belt-and is performing wonderfully!!!

Cool kit, TT! What can you tell us about any pros and cons compared to other bop-sized kits you have played?

Thanks for the kind words......As for the other kits I have, I have a Ludwig Questlove in Azure Blue Sparkle, and two Pearl Roadshow Jazz kits-one in Bronze Metallic and one in Wine Red Metallic. They are a lot easier to get in and out of a club-I can use standard size drum bags and put more than one drum in them. The Questlove uses a Pro Tec Multi Tom bag that holds the bass and toms-with a separate snare bag. The PDP kit uses Remo single ply heads as compared to the Ludwig which has Remo Pinstripes. I replaced all the batter heads on the Pearl kits except for the bass heads.
One thing I noticed about the Ludwig was that during a show, some of the nuts holding the lugs would come loose. So far, I have played two shows with the PDP and have had no problems. The Pearl kits are inexpensive but very durable for the money. I would highly recommend any of the kits I currently own for a surf drummer looking for a smaller kit for smaller venues. When you have the right sound guy, he can make a smaller kit sound just like a full sized one......If I were to look at another kit, I would likely go for the Pearl Midtown kit-it is a step up from the Roadshow. But, of course, more money......
