Permalink Help me name my boat!

After a light refurb and a change of colour I'm think of changing the name of my boat. I always planned to rename her Eugenie after an album by one of my all time favourite bands, The Popguns. Then a Royal person named their baby Eugenie and put me off as I don't really want to appear a raving Royalist.

So I thought I'd see what surf music related names there were. There aren't many to be honest. Misirlou is an option, I guess. But I was wondering what else there might be? Bands or songs. Or even products. (I'm ruling out Surfy Bear, by the way).

The boat is not anything significant. It's a 21foot sailboat, made in the 1970s.

Only rule is it needs to be short. One word, preferably. Two words possibly if they are both short. I don't want to be spelling out Honolulu Lulu in a Mayday call!

SO far I have Siboney (Bambi Molesters) and possibly Exolumina (If I knew what it meant), but I'm keen to hear what the Surf Guitar 101 community can come up with. Over to you.

I would love to have boat called the Mar Gaya, because even though it allegedly means "Crocodile", it sounds oceanic (maybe something like Happy Sea?). Also anytime anyone asks what it means, you can turn them onto the best surf track of all time.

Wow. It's kind of uncanny how boaty these feel.

FYI...Mar Gaya is already taken by my 1979 Islander 36 Yes
Ps...I always thought "On the Rocks" would be a good boat name but an old sailor friend talked me out of that bad mojo!!!

Well, thanks for all your suggestions. It's been a trying time with it and it's soaked up a lot of guitar practice time. But getting close to actually doing what I originally took it out of the water to do...

I had settled on Chantay, which I thought sounded pretty nice for a boat, bit when I suggested it to Ms da-ron it started to sound too much like shanty, as in sea shanty. Not so appealing.

I was considering Pintor. I still like Chantay though, it looks good written down.

Nothing wrong with a sea shanty, surely? In which case Chantay is good, since it works on two levels.
