Is anyone on this forum frustrated about getting Jorgen Ingmann tone? If so, please respond!
Gratefully,
CURMUDGEON

According to Wiki, Jorgen was influenced by Les Paul and built his own studio in which Apache was recorded. I wonder if he recorded the guitar direct to tape through his desk without an amp.

Hey,Phrygian!
Thanks for the reply. I believe you just nailed it...guitar through recording desk sounds totally different from an amp!
Drip On,
CURMUDGEON

I think Jorgen Ingmann mostly played a Gibson Les Paul.

Traditional........speak softly and play through a big blonde amp. Did I mention that I still like big blonde amps?

Ooops,

I had remembered seeing numerous pix of Ingmann playing Les Pauls, but I just went out looking for more info and realized that he apparently heavily preferred Gibsons and is seen in a lot of pix playing what appears to be a very rare (or possibly custom ordered) Gibson ES-175 with a a soft cutaway. There are also pix of him apparently performing with a 335. I also found a vid of him apparently recording in his home studio but the technical details are lacking.

At any rate, he was an awesome player.

I think he played a Gibson hollow-body electric (it's a sunburn with a single pu) as I saw it on the cover of the Apache 45rpm in the year of 1963 or so. I tried with a Grestch hollow-body electric guitar and I believe the sound just very similar, I tried it on a Fender TR with Jensen speakers. You can try to listen to the introduction of the Animals' The House of the Rising Sun, specially with the begining (the note A)
