A MOD 4AB2C1B (medium decay pan) probably has as long a decay as an Accutronics 4AB3C1B (long decay pan).

With my Surfybear kit, a MOD 4AB1C1B (short decay) has as long a decay as an Accutronics 4AB3C1B. In fact the decay is boomier so it feels even longer.

I tried a MOD pan in my MIC '63 outboard unit knock off but went back to the stock Accutronics pan. The MOD was as you described. The Accutronics can get a bit spikey but it does a better job producing the drip.
Maybe one of these days somebody will be able to reproduce the tone and response of those vintage pans. I will say that I have had very good results with using MOD pans with on board in-amp reverb where I'm not going for a surfy drip but more of an Ampeg-like fat, more echo-like reverb sound.
