Permalink Beaver Bottoms cabinets?

New Topic

Has anybody ever bought a cabinet from this company? Any issues? Any information is appreciated!

Thanks!

Came across this thread when I was looking for info about vibro champ amps:
https://surfguitar101.com/forums/topic/21887/

From the thread, sounds like they can do some great work. I believe the owner is a surfguitar101 member too.

They seem great with that crazy level of detail only a purist would care about. I was gonna order a 15” tone ring from then but then I got a tip and called up JD Newell; ended up getting three cabs from him.

Dan, I believe you will be VERY happy with JD's work, He has done a couple cabinets for me and his work is equal to or maybe even better than Fender OEM. JD's prices are very reasonable and his turnover times are pretty quick as well.

Still happy with the '62 Dual Showman? Cool

I've got JD Newell cabinets. Great work!

I also have used JD Newell in the past - he did a 2x12 custom Bandmaster combo cabinet for me that worked great. That amp was stolen, but if I decide to go that route I'd use him again.

Beaver Bottoms does make nice-looking tone-ring cabs; Mather Cabs is another resource I've also looked at for getting a matching sized 1x12 closed cab for my Princeton Reverb (which was also stolen...)

Oh yeah I’m super happy with the cabs, and now that my finger is feeling much better I am again blasting that incredible amp I got from you! So YES x1,000,000,000,000!

Beaver Bottoms makes a 10” tone ring cab and I wad always curious about that!

I commissioned Bob @ Beaver Bottoms to build me a 15" Tone Ring cabinent back in March 2018 and the build was completed & shipped off to me in June 2018. Super great quality work and excellent communication from Bob along the way. Highly recommend FWIW. Cool

I originally planned to use the cab for my then-owned Showman but ended selling off the Showman head. I put an old JBL D-140F 15" speaker in the cab. This was one of a pair of JBL D-140F speakers off of Reverb - I still have the other one in storage.

Eventually, I paired the cab with an Allen Encore head I bought off of Reverb. Wonderful amp and the speaker sounds great through the Beaver Bottoms cab. Smile

Nice, thanks for the feedback!

i talked to bob recently and he was great to deal with. was considering a 10" tone ring for my princeton as a mini surf rig, and it was a bit cheaper than a 15". Bob was a touch hesitant to do things outside of the typical fender look, but I get that.

so I'll be starting with his 15" and just build the 10 myself. i've tried to find accurate measurements of the baffle and spacing and braces but haven't had luck. i'll wing it with some cabinet calculations.

also talked with Mather, and they were willing to do some special wood (for a price) on a head cabinet.

both great companies.

When I built my 15" tone ring cab some years ago, Bob from Beaver Bottoms facilitated the parts acquiring stage for me (down to screw washers!) for no extra cost, and graciously guided me through the whole process via many emails, with extreme patience and care. He's a mentch and pleasure to work with.
