Permalink Yamaha "Flying Samurai" SCE 300

White "Flying Samurai", Yamaha SCE 300T - probably 80s, looks and plays lovely! Case. Tuning and intonation are good. Some play scuffs but, for a guitar of this vintage, in pretty nice shape. The original Yamaha PUPs are good but a tad vanilla for my taste. I will include them in the sale. Presently has Fender 62 Strat reissue PUPs and sounds extra surfy. No problems. Everything functions as intended. $400. Please feel free to ask questions. PM me. Local pick up can be arranged in SoCal. Otherwise shipping USPS CONUS only, buyer pays, (usually $25-$45 depending). The turtle can easily be removed, just not in front of my wife. This puppy will be going on ebay in a week, but I wanted to give the SG101 crowd a crack first. Cheers!

Never seen those before. Bottom horn is different.

Yeah, Yamaha built these puppies to SURF hard and compete directly with Strats. I own two FS and they can compete. Strats are pretty darn ergonomic but Yamaha managed to pull ahead just a wee bit. The whang bar is essentially a strat duplicate as are the original PUPs and switching. So, if you're a total Soup Nazi Strat guy, stick with Strats. If, on the other hand, you like something a bit different, but don't want to stray real far, this can fill the bill.

I never saw those before either. It’s really cool looking.

I've seen these on ebay before, and they definitely have a cool look. I'm just disappointed that they just went with the strat forumla on pickups, trem, and switching. I'd rather see something more original, like with the SGV (sure, they are reissues, but of an original Yamaha setup).

I would concur, but I find them to be more satisfying than I originally imagined. Later, they did a version that was still three single poles but two of them were placed together (maybe a Van Halen?)
