For those of us who never tire of reading about these beauties...

(Hope this hasn't been posted already. It didn't appear when I searched.)

I had not seen it posted before - it's a good article.

I bought my 1987 MIJ Jaguar in 1988 for $200, new but badly dinged. I was still years away from wanting to play surf music but I always liked Carl Wilson's Jaguar sound (if it was even him playing on the records). It seemed like everyone was playing Strats so I wanted something different, I was inspired by Midnight Oil who had a different guitar sound (Strats and Gretsch Duo Jets) and were incorporating "surf guitar" in their songs. At the same time I saw the very young surf band the Surf Tikis at Borsodi's in Isla Vista and loved the sound of the vintage Jaguar that they were taking turns playing, Strat for rhythm and Jaguar for lead. I couldn't afford a Duo Jet at the time but I saw the Jaguar in a store in Goleta and had to have it. It looked just like Carl's. By now I've replaced many parts, rewired it like Telecaster and just last weekend I sanded the gloss off the back of the neck making it better than it's ever been.

Cool article. I don't own a jaguar, but I love the design.

I found this video on youtube about Jaguars, btw:
