I just sold my Mosrite and bought a Strat. Earlier this year I traded my Jag for a Thinline Tele. I’m very happy with the sounds I’m getting with the Strat and Tele, and I haven’t started missing the Jag or Mosrite ... yet!

Just pulled out my Strat (plus w lipstick p/us) again, and am really enjoying playing it. I’ve been playing my Jag for our last batch of shows, but am definitely going be using the Strat for Sunday’s show. You can say I go through phases. Rev —Canadian Surf |

It's easier and more fun to play with a lighter solidbody guitar all else equal. I recently bought (shudder!) a Glarry GST strat clone because it is the lightest strat clone I know of. It now weighs 5.65 pounds, after thinning the neck, leveling frets, replacing bridge and middle pickups, replacing bridge saddles with brass roller saddles, adding a Roland six-output pickup and gluing weights to the vibrato block. It feels weightless and surpasses my hopes for playability, vibe, tone, and comfort. It looks sharp with white body and black pickguard. Not many other guitars allow such extensive mods by a non-luthier. —Insanitizers! http://www.insanitizers.com Last edited: Aug 15, 2021 12:29:09 |

In the era of CNC, it’s amazing how inexpensively a competent instrument can be produced. I got an ad a few days ago for a pick that cost $35, but decent Strat copies can be had for under $100. —The artist formerly known as: Synchro When Surf Guitar is outlawed only outlaws will play Surf Guitar. |
