^ Like he said - but lots of history in that amp. Cool

For everyone that can't afford a five thousand dollar rig right now, I suggest getting the Astronauts CD box set, not sure how many are left out there, I bought one of the last sealed ones, but its worth searching out if you can find a used one somewhere. Its the long box type with the slider top. It has every album they made.

Mel called me before he picked it up, and we made plans for him to come by Texas Toast guitars while he was in town. He arrived with a big smile on his face, and a cool Showman in his truck. I’d met Mel a couple times, but this was the first time we got to hang out for more than a second. It was really cool to talk guitars, and his new venture, Wheely Guitars.

Mel got all the cool 45s, and the Astronauts news articles and other ephemera the seller had as well.

We did a quick live feed on youtube.
https://youtu.be/179r5fZT4KE. Showman talk starts at 3:35

And, I’m so glad Mel had the forsite to go to Tulagi’s and take that picture!

"You can't tell where you're going if you don't know where you've been"

That was a great video. Thanks again, Chris!

Congrats to Mel (and condolences to Lorenzo!). I'm glad this played out here so we can all get front row seat into the way this transaction happened. Only a super fan would "lose his mind", drive to Colorado and then take the time on the way back to unload it in front of Tulagi for a picture! Thanks to everyone involved for sharing the story.

There there, Lorenzo, there there. ( Internet pat on back)!

This is when I would like to be like Vito Corleone and send Luca Brasi with $100 cheque to retrieve that amp.

...and the cannoli, of course

Great story, just lovely. And what a coincidence about that airport museum!

Maybe the Showman has a top secret alien tech “extra reverb” mod!

Really cool - and I like the update video -

Somehow, I missed this thread as it unfolded. Wow! Very cool story, and a great video! Congrats, Mel!
