Permalink Anyone play the Vintera Strats?

I'm looking for impressions on how the Vintera strats are? Looking at the regular and the modified it's a tough call. I really like the 50s sea foam green, but the locking tuners and 2 point bridge of the modified sound great. I've also never played a soft V neck and was wondering if it is a lot bigger than like a C neck. It's hard to tell watching videos but the regular 50s and 60s vintera pickups sound brighter for some reason that the hot extra wound modified pickups. Or am I just mistaken based on video quality?

In your opinion would a 50s or 60s come closer to Dick Dale strat tone or would either not matter that much?

Dick Dale strat tone is not in a strat. You may come closer to it on any stratocaster or you may not, that's all.

I've tried Vintera strats in the shop and they are pretty good however I am not a fan of the new pickups. My custom strat with fat 50th gives nice surf sounds all around, Dale-like as well)

Good luck!

I own a surf green 60's Vintera Strat, and I couldn't be happier with it... In fact, it is my favorite guitar to play right now. I even sold my American Special surf green Strat with custom 54 pickups in it.

I had a professional setup done to it, and had some 12's put on it. I absolutely love this guitar. The pickups sound great to me, don't sound hot at all (like those Texas Special pickups that originally came with the American Special).

If you want to hear what it sounds like, I recording "Pipeline" with it a few weeks back. You can hear that on my bands website. Hope this info helps!

PS The other song "Late Night Surf" was recording with a blonde Vintera Jazzmaster. I absolutely love the Vintera series!
