You have excellent taste! I think the Coral is going to have to cover me for red for a while.

Shocked Drool Headbang Cheers Amazing, Kent! LOVE IT! An incredible collection! Believe me, I think both Dave and I fully sympathize with your affliction! Big Grin It's remarkable how each Strat has a different personality while still retaining that essential 'Strat-iness', and it's so fun to have the opportunity to experience and enjoy those different personalities! Any favorites among all those? (I'm guessing changing every day - that's ho it is for me, at least!)

Thanks Ivan! Yes, it's an affliction Big Grin . You nailed it with the different personalities, and yes, I like to take them all out and give them a spin. My favorites at the moment (LOL) are the EJ Rosewood, the AV 65, and the 2 Custom Shops. The 56 Thinline is so ballsy it's bordering on Tele territory! The Josephina hand wound Fat 50s in it are the BOMB!

I look at the affliction and compare owning a bunch of strats to buying a decent used car cost wise. Used cars come and go without much love but these....these incredible instruments are very special!!!

I actually sold a strat earlier this year because I didn't think it belonged in the "circle of trust". It had a chunky neck and would have never gotten the love! Cool

I almost bought another strat yesterday and it seems to have been sold. I should have not let it get away. Although it was a 2015 MIM, it had a Burgundy Mist alder body which would have been the foundation for another build. Very disappointed I didn't jump immediately!

Burgundy Mist is a great color! Here’s a closer shot of my MIM 60’s Classic Series. It’s got Fender pure vintage ‘65s and a Callaham block & arm. Day to day this is the one I probably play the most as it sits in a stand next to me in my home office.

A few years back I had this pic taken in a customers backyard. Whe the Rock Hall was opened in Cleveland, they lined the streets with Stratocaster sculptures and then auctioned them off. My customer set his in his backyard and even put landscape lighting on it. This thing is 8 foot tall at least!

After a few weeks and a couple of gigs under belt I wanted to review the American Deluxe Stratocaster. I don't know of any reviews on SG101. My Deluxe was stripped of it's original pickups and S1 switch and setup like all of my surf strats which includes the blender pot. The biggest difference with this guitar vs my American Standards that I play surf with is the neck.

In 2010 the AD strats included a compound radius fretboard. I will say that the neck overall appears to be an upgraded finish and the rosewood is a better cut then on the AS. The compound radius of 9.5-14 degrees was the biggest surprise for me. Although not close to being vintage correct in surf guitar world the compound radius has been a very pleasant surprise. The playability is much more noticeable when playing live. I noticed this right away on the first gig. I found that landing notes and chords seemed much more effortless at 180 bpm for example. When running through a flurry of notes and chords with the band at high tempo everything intonates very well and sticks the landing. Leads are much more powerful, effortless and true. This has been a catch 22 because now I want another AD neck for my stage backup guitar!!! I'm back to shopping again. Cool

My latest is a 2010 American Deluxe with David Allen pickups. There weren't any CAR Deluxe's made during the period of 2010-2015. I wanted that period for the compound radius neck which I love. This is a Metallic Sunset color which is CAR blending into orange metallic. The pickups sound really incredible! I just ordered the vintage cream fender pickup cover and knob set. When they arrive I will change those and do the blender pot mod. To keep the price down, I did a partial trade for my 93 AS Sunburst. I hated doing it but it had been relegated to not much play time and needed a major fret sand and crown plus a new nut.

I have 7 Stratocasters now.
My favorite has been this '56 RI I picked up 3 years ago.
I had a beautiful Les Paul R8 and I felt awkward gigging with it so I picked up this Strat as a "beater"

Wow, Bill, seven??? Good job, my friend! Big Grin You still have your Jag? I know you've been playing blues and classic rock kinda stuff lately, but trying to put together another surf band - could you imagine using the Strat for surf in the future?

BTW, Dave, to go along with your giant Strat structure, here's a photo I took in Cologne, Germany a few years ago - it's a Strat sign for a music store, and though not possible to tell the scale from this photo, it was about twice the size of the real thing!

Other than the pickups falling off this is an amazing piece of art! Scaled perfectly!

Yup for sure I'd use a Strat. I have a few surf ideas floating around but waiting on possible members so it may or may not happen.

Ivan I think we met at a time when I was in a deep honeymoon phase with the Jaguar. I got my first Strat when I was 12 years old(still have it)

Even back in the Aquanauts I played a Strat at times. I could just never find a vintage reissue model with a neck I liked. The old '62 and '57 RIs didn't feel as good as the '52 RI Tele. Now with the '56 and '54 RI Fender has got me(too bad they discontinued those).

It really is the most versatile guitar in the world

The two American Deluxe Strats. The Sunset Metallic is much different. The neck is about 1/16th wider and the rosewood is a bit more red. The David Allen pickups are a bit darker and more powerful. The blended sound is very full and true jag tone but a but a bit of time has been needed trying to dial the middle pickup in to my liking. Height is very sensitive to these pickups. I still favor the neck and fretboard on the surf green strat. On par with my other American standards but nicer in every way. No, I don't play surf on my high gain amps!
