Permalink Jon and the Nightriders anthology pre orders now on Amazon

New Topic

2 volume set of rarities coming in September.

https://www.amazon.com/Rumble-Waikiki-John-Blair-Anthology/dp/B07F3B51T1/ref=sr_1_7/133-8973319-8270830?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1530548700&sr=1-7&keywords=jon+and+the+nightriders

Is this new? Looks very exciting. Or am I just the last to know?

This is new. Bear Family beat me to it by having it up on Amazon before I could announce it here. This isn't just a J&TNs anthology, although the majority of the tracks on the two CDs are J&TNs (but a few previously unheard live tracks). Of interest is "Freefall," the track I recorded for the never released Richie Podolor tribute CD and all of the tracks I recorded with Marty Tippens for a never released acoustic instrumental CD.

No promises, but I hope to have physical copies available at the SG101 Convention on 4 August. Let's Rumble!!!

That's awesome! Though a little weird that they go with a stock surf image rather than John himself!

Fantastic! Bear Family label is known for very high quality releases.
Revelation that John recorded with rockabilly legend Ray Campi.
That's a rumble!

More information is on the Bear Family webpage, including audio snippets.

Very cool

Jeff(bigtikidude)

As I mentioned a few weeks ago, I'm involved with THREE very cool CDs, coming this summer, that I've been working on for the past six months. The "Live at The Whisky A Go-Go" CD (and forthcoming vinyl LP reissue), the new 2-CD "John Blair Anthology" release from Bear Family (announced today), and.....one more CD that I'll announce here right after the July 4th holiday!!! Jeez, I'm tired....

Wow!!! Look at all those tracks! Congratulations John!

I just finally found a used copy of Live at the Famous Whiskey A Go-Go. Can’t wait to get the new releases.

Congratulations John, Bear Family is one of the best roots reissue labels out there! Got lot's of their releases and this one is gonna be in my collection too Wink

Well deserved! Congrats, John!

Sending a cd or two from Germany to the world outside of Europe
costs 3.70 Euros.
The same would cost 14 dollars (see John Blair´s giftshop)when sent
from the US to Europe.
So it will help saving money having this anthology produced in Germany.
BTW the first anthology was "Banished To The Beach - An Anthology 1979 - 1986" from Herbert "The Cruncher" Hooke´s NPR Records released in 1994
and not as mentioned on Bear Family Record´s homepage the new set
"Rumble At Waikiki", it is an updated anthology from John Blair.

C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S John on this much deserved tribute! Thanks for including the Frankie and the Pool Boys track “Cat Fight”, it was an honor to collaborate with you!

Just to clarify...the new Bear Family "John Blair Anthology" is NOT a Jon & The Nightriders' anthology. The NPR release back in '94 WAS a J&TNs' anthology. But, not the new Bear Family package. There's much more than just J&TNs here.

Happily stumbled on original vinyl release of Whisky live at Jerry’s Records in ... Pittsburgh (believe it!).
