Hey guys, I found this forum while looking for more info on this tape I found. I was record shopping in Encinitas when I found it. I love finding cool old VHS tapes so I picked it up. My googling lead me to this forum, and other than that, there doesn't seem to be much info out there on this thing, other than that only a few were made and that they're highly collectable. I'll try to attach some pictures.

If anyone has more info, I'd really appreciate it! Only a mild surf rock fan myself, but I do love surf punk, so I thought this was a pretty cool find.

Watch the interviews at the end of the show. Quite interesting!
I bought the cassette back then in PAL which was quite expensive.
It is really a good example of how instrumental surf music was
celebrated in the mid 80s!
Ruediger

I believe that to be at the Alpine Village. Where we do the SG101 convention now. Cool find. Congrats.

You're right Jeff, I recently watched pieces of it on Youtube and they mention the Alpine Village as the venue at some point. (It looks a little different though).

Cool find, definitely!

Los Apollos - cinematic surf music trio (Berlin)
"Postcards from the Scrapyard" Vol. 1, 2 & 3 NOW available on various platforms!
"Chaos at the Lobster Lounge" available as LP and download on Surf Cookie Records!

Congratulations on the great find, and welcome to SG101!

Bob

Paul Johnson sold these tapes by mail order.

Hey guys, thanks for the info! I plan on watching it soon as the clips posted here are awesome.

I would like to fully rip and upload the entire thing, mainly to preserve what seems to be a small piece of surf history, and as I can't seem to find a full length upload. I gotta do some more research as to how to go about doing that, but I'll keep you guys updated!

Are there tape to digital conversation services where you live. As this is a valuable product I'd make another VHS tape as a safety before taking it to a commercial transfer shop.

Happy Sunsets!

There is a place a few miles from my work that will digitize VHS tapes to archival DVDs. I was worried about something happening to it during that process, but as for now, it's really my only option
