Here is the trailer.

No Dave, that's the trailer for the other (!) movie in the works mentioned in this thread.

Maybe this is as good a place as any for this recent Ventures find. The original drummer, George Babbitt who played on Walk Don't Run went on to become a four star general in the Air Force. Here he is reuniting and sitting in with the band. What I think is especially cool is that Bob Bogle (who played lead before Nokie) is doing the lead guitar. It sounds SO authentically close to the recording!

I always think its funny that the first 1960 Walk Don't Run by The Ventures wasn't the one they say was recorded down the cellar studio like legend has it, This is the one recorded there in 1959. Not quite as good, this is when Nokie joined that band as well and was still playing bass with Buck Owens as well. The drummer got in a car accident right after this session and hurt his back big time, had to quit the band eventually.

The biggest difference between this recording and the hit version is the latter's professional studio sound and lead guitar tape delay. The lead guitarist is playing the same notes with the same emphasis and timing as the hit, with only a few minor deviations. I believe that Bob Bogle must have been playing guitar for years before recording this, despite lore to the contrary, because it shows deep experience.

That early recording may betray their beginnings as a guitar duo. I'm hearing parts intertwining that aren't on the hit version.

Thanks for posting the video, was lucky to be at that performance.
Right, Bogle passed off lead to Nokie, but as you point out he was still excellent.
Recently picked up a 'supposed' genuine signed index card by Babbitt to commemorate the performance.

Awesome. That is lucky. Looked like a cool event! Too bad I never got to see them. Gerry McGee is also amazing.

Great stuff, all...thanks for posting
