Just found this place today while wanderring around the 'net. Really pleased to have stumbled on the site.
I have posted over in the "gear" forum so I won't say too much other than I am 45, haven't gigged for 15 years and am getting that tingle inside again I live on the Sunshine Coast, about 100km north of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
I recently bought the guitar I have always wanted, a Jaguar. I'm actually a bass player but feel right at home with the six string stuff. My musical background is something like this: jazz bass tuition from 12 to 15 years of age, first rock band at 15 playing tragic covers. Started a punk-ish outfit in 1979 and have played in all sorts of bands through the 80's, even a "new wave" synth band! Last band was best described as a grunge band, playing mostly originals but also a dose of Mudhoney and Dinosaur Jr covers.
Well, here I am and I hope to learn a bit while I'm here!
Cheers.

Cheers guys! I'm pleased to be here!
Spud, I've never been a big surf fan but I do like the music and the more I listen to, the more I like it. I have a prtty diverse taste in music. Classical, jazz, punk, grunge and now surf too I guess ;)
Hell, I grew up with surf music anyway. My siblings were teenagers when I was a little 'un and I had a staple diet of 7" Chantays, Ventures, Shadows, etc.
Now I am searching for more!

Welcome aboard, Marc! I initially started with bass, then eventually picked up guitar along the way, so I consider myself both a guitar and bass player. Having started with bass, I do have a "nasty habit" of keeping the bass knob on all of my guitar amps at "11."

Aloha and welcome Marc......there's a lot of GREAT people here and some guitar players too!! I played reggae most of my career:

but i've always loved surf music since i was a kid and that's what i do now. I think my band The TakeOffs has the best surf gig there is...in Hawaii anyway, and we feel like the luckiest guys around. We hope you enjoy SG101......!

Yep, know what you mean ;)
I'm still a bass player but I'm working hard at learning guitar. What do those strings have to be so damned close together?
Absolutely adore my Jaguar and it inspires me to pick it up and have a blast whenever I can... which at the moment is LOTS as the wife and kids are away for a few weeks! Anyone else would be out partying but I've spent the first few days cleaning up around the house and now I'm kicking back and making some music... LOUD music!
