Anyone know anything?
Who were they? Where from?
Seems like maybe a studio group maybe that put out one LP "Surftime USA featuring the Wave Crests" on the Viking label?
The first song is titled "Surfers Rock" but it is clearly a cover of "Surfing USA" including the vocals.
The rest of the LP is pretty good standard first wave style songs.

This records was also issued as Mike Adams and the Red Jackets Twist Contest and Surfin' Around The World with a few minor track changes. All three albums are from the same session.

Presumably a studio group, and one I'd not heard of.

And interesting that this thread resurfaced after seven years. Millwinder, how'd you stumble on it?

"Surfin' Around The World"??? Not by Mike Adams, but who? I'm only familiar with Bruce Johnston's "Surfin' 'Round The World" LP, which has nothing to do with Mike Adams or The Wave Crests (which, I believe, featured Steve Douglas on sax). So, what is being referenced here?

Hey Richard
I search out weird surf records. The surfing craze and the home stereo craze was so huge so fast,.. record companies were taking LPs and re branding them with SURF in the title with new artwork.
Other companies specialized in sending session guys into the studio to record some quick instrumentals. ARC in Canada had session guys called The Shadows (not the guys form UK) who released many LP some with vocals of the hits if the days.
