Permalink B-52s first two albums....amp?

New Topic

The B-52s first albums definitely had a surf rock guitar sound merged with new wave tastes, set aside by Ricky Wilson’s unique tunings. What often doesn’t get identified is the amps they used to get the sounds on their first two albums, the self titled debut and Wild Planet. I know that live in their first years, Ricky played a Mesa Boogie MkII, but I don’t if that’s necessarily what I hear on the recordings.

Anyone want to listen to their first two albums and take a guess?

Yeah I’ve seen that. Unfortunately; all the amps were observed in a live context: nothing about studio.

I've seen them use Twins

Maybe he used a Boss Katana. Does anyone read this stuff?

It's summer time, Vince. Everyone is off surfing, playing guitar, or working on bad-ass artwork for the next VLV poster.
