I own two of these 5230t. One is lighter ~6 lb and has more of a quack and attack. A heavier one at 7.4 lb has more sustain and a bit darker as you might expect. For a chambered mahogony guitar at $500 its a real deal. I also play a PRS 408 and 63 Hot Rod Strat and these Gretsch are always being played,they have the Gretsch character. The Filtertron pick ups on these are great too. I put in some TV Jones. It changed the sound as expected but did not make it better, just different.

I own an older Pro Jet with one volume and tone knob. I like it and think that it does well when playing surf. I think in the video the cabs used presented more bottom end then what you might expect, but apart from that it was a fair representation. These are very well built guitars with slightly below average electronics.
