Hi Delrin, Thank you for bringing me into the "super nerd happy moment." I really appreciate you sharing this. That is a really cool video, and for those of you who won't watch it, but might read this: It's a playing (with commentary) of a rare demonstration record sent out to "mom and pop" music stores to try to sell the 1962 Gibson Maestro Fuzz Tone pedal. This was the first guitar effects pedal and as a brand new concept, no one was sure about how to market it or what it might be used for. It was a foreign concept and it is a bit hilarious to listen to it being used to mimic traditional orchestra instruments. Thank goodness that, in the words of "Neuronmancer" author William Gibson, "The street finds its own uses for things." The makers never dreamed of what the Ventures, Davie Allan, and Keith Richards would do with it, or that hundreds of stomp boxes would follow, but it all started here. —-Tim |

OK...THAT was cool. The whole vibe around the demo being focused on the concept that back then "a guitarist had a desire to be a part of, and wanted to emulate an orchestra"...crazy times back then...It immediately reminded me of the ideas people had regarding the Mellotron when it was first introduced also in the early '60's....they didn't really know what to make of it at first. —Can I have everything louder than everything else! |

The record sounds fuzzy too Must of took a few years to figure out how to play Acid Rock with this thing. Reminds me of those old LP's on how to operate your new stereo player. |
