Congrats! Cool place, one review says something about $3 Yeungling pints... that's a good second reason to be there!

Dang Matt! That was so quick, that you found a band, congrats! It’s only taken me 28 years...

That show is on my 47th birthday, I hope it’s a good one!

Daniel Deathtide

Cool! Stoopy and I will sing happy birthday! Or wait, we don't sing! We'll do an instrumental version!

Well for the record I don't mind singing, since it'll help answer the usual question from someone in the audience as to why there's no singing, with the added benefit of being even more embarrassing for Deathtide! Big Grin

I can't decide if I'm more impressed by the fact that not only do the guitars and bass match, but also have matching head stocks or that y'all were able to convince Sammy Hagar to play drums for you!

LOL, that's good! Well, he found out that none of us drives 55, so he offered us his drumming services. Smile

Sammy is using the name Bart Balderson, and he's the best drummer I've ever worked with. I'll have to tell him that he's been outed on SG-101. He'll actually get a huge kick out of this.

Great show by you guys last night, enjoyed the heck out of it, as did Mrs. Stoopy! And as did many others there!

Skippy and the Skipjacks REALLY brung it. Quite a long set with a refreshing selection of tunes, some really engaging and eclectic choices, mixed with just the right standards to get the crowd going, and most of all, some very impressive originals sprinkled throughout... You guys have obviously been practicing and prepping with some real dedication to do all that in only your second gig!

The whole band is a real class act with some very talented players (fantastic drumming by the way, it was Melody's favorite thing to watch) and GREAT sound. I mean the tone was spot-on, the real deal. Great stage presence, very entertaining and personable.

Musically, there were lots of high points that would take too long to go into here, but the Pipeline cover/medley with what sounded like some Iron Butterfly thrown in there (correct me if I'm wrong) was fantastic, one of my favorite parts. Great stuff!

THANKS for a great show, Long Live Skippy & the Skipjacks!

Thanks for coming out, Stoopy! It was great to finally meet you! The storms couldn't stop you from showing up! If you're on Facebook, we have a page. Post some of what you captured, if you can!

It's Pipeline, then Cream's Sunshine of your Love and Peter Gunn theme thrown in the mix. Our drummer goes crazy over that medley. LOVE it!

I was at the Durango Grill show and want to say your performance was really fun! Chatted with you (Matt) for a few minutes between sets. I was the guy who mentioned my "69 Fender Mustang. Always loved surf music and twangy guitar stuff, and it's great to see a band doing just that genre, and doing it well! I'm a veteran radio personality and sometimes band guy, so I've seen A LOT of bands over the years. Your band was a breath of fresh air. Well Done! BTW, I posted a video from your gig on F'book, with your rendition of Miserlou, crediting your band, and got very nice reactions to your performance. Keep up the good work.

Hey Baxter! YES! Thank you for the compliments and also thanks for coming to the show! Share that video to our FB site! We will be back at Durango on the 29th of June, so we'd love to see you out there as well!

Matt

That is Skippy. Paul from the Atomic Mosquitos filmed that back in February or March.

This is what you get when you make a request at a Skipjacks' show. You gotta know your instrumentals! First time paying this one. Good times. The dancing made us extend it for what it is...lol

Aww, dang! That's the ONE song I took a video of that came out good on my phone, and I finally just put it up on YouTube. Awww well, posted to you FB page anyways.

My vid is taken from further back, so halfway through the tune you can see some magic happening among the dancers... seems Skippy & the Skipjacks inspired some real luuuuvvvvvvvv that night.... Laughing

Ahh what the heck here it is anyway!
