I don't think Jon Martin was a member of The Newporters. References?

Jon Martin says so at 4:14 minutes in Noel's Feb 09, 2014 video.

If I'd stop buying old guitars to fix, I might actually learn to play.
Bringing instruments back to life since 2013.

That video is only 3:09 long, so there is no 4:14 mark. Anyway, I've listened to it several times before and I don't hear any reference to the Newporters. Is there another video or am I simply losing my mind?

The reference was to the first of the two videos that Noel posted on February 9, 2014:

OK...it's interesting that Randy didn't immediately pick up on that reference by asking about Scott Engel (aka Walker) or Jonathan Young. Without further information, I don't believe that Jon Martin played in the same Scott Engel band. In other words, more than one Newporters. I've always been under the assumption that The Newporters on Scotchtown was a one-off Engel/Young studio effort. I also don't believe THAT band ever played gigs. So, I remain skeptical that Jon Martin played in the same band.

In a December 18, 2013 post to The Challengers Facebook page, Randy Nauert discusses this video, and states:

"Jon played in a band called the "Newporters". I'd jam with them in the game room above Jon's garage on Harbor Island back when I lived on Balboa Island in 1963."

Yes, I heard that comment in the video as well. I remain unconvinced that the two Newporters are one and the same without more information.

Furthermore, given Randy's proclivity to always find a way to post a Challengers' recording, you would think that he would have posted their version of "Adventures in Paradise" as part of his comment about jamming with the Newporters.
