Permalink NAD: Vibroverb RI + demo

Well, buying another amp was the last thing I needed to be doing today but a deal came up on craigslist that couldn't be ignored so I made a trip and bought this little beauty for 6 deceased Franklins. Its grille is wine stained and there's no footswitch but otherwise no issues. And I don't really even mind the stain. Someday maybe I'll put an oxblood grille in there to match my other stuff.

I totally love it and made a little demo in celebration. Just playing clean through a 2x15 JBL cabinet with the reverb coming from an outboard tank. The distortion at higher volumes is glorious, though.

Public Service Announcement: "Hearos" or other brands of earplugs that attenuate evenly across the frequency spectrum are a fantastic investment for guitar players.

Very nice. I avoid, by accident or design, pristine gear whether new or used...I don't want abused items but you can tell when they have been used for musical purposes (meaning they are players) or just been kicked around because they were taking up space.

A two-pronged question:
1) How's the onboard reverb? I've got a '63 reissue tank available and/or a Topanga pedal but am considering getting a portable practice amp.
2) How is it without the extension cab?

Congrats! Make sure you register it with the Vibroverb registry!

The reverb is lush and profuse if you want it to be! The stock speakers on their own get a lot of criticism from what I've seen but it still sounds good, if you ask me. And you just did so... It's fine without an extension cabinet!

I was watching one of these go on eBay for far too little. I entered a bid and, amazingly got it for cheap. When it was shipped to me, the case was cracked at the top left corner and the speakers were absolutely shot. UPS settled up with me on the case and my other guitar player was able to dowel the case back together. He did a good enough job that it really wasn't noticeable. Wtith the UPS settlement, I had about $150 in it before new Ragin' Cajun speakers. A fantastic amp. I sold it to another friend when I got a Gretsch Executive with a 15" JBL D-130. This is the one made by Victoria amps and is basically an improved version of the vibrato channel of a Deluxe Reverb. Still miss the Vibroverb at times but with the Executive and another Deluxe Reverb, I couldn't justify keeping all of them, even to myself.

Is that a reissue from the 90's?

Awesome! I’ve had my eye out for one of these.

Guitarist for Wolfhand and The Donner Beach Party.

Yep, it's the 90's reissue.
